Big Weirdo
I know they say these things go in cycles and this year it's obviously the Patriots vs. the AFC vs. the NFC. But for the most part the AFC has completely owned the NFL for the last 10 years. 2007: Colts 2006: Steelers 2005: Patriots (God damn it  ) 2004: Patriots 2003: Buccaneers (Another God damn it  ) 2002: Patriots 2001: Ravens 2000: Rams 1999: Broncos 1998: Broncos I'm getting sick and tired of these AFL merged and expansion wanna be ****s winning Super Bowls. When can the NFC start dominating again. Really. I'm just so sick of the AFC. Football is barely even fun to watch anymore knowing that if your team is coming out of the NFC they basically have about a snowball's chance in hell. When will it change!!!!!!!!?! WHEN?!!?! sens11
Great question... And I'd love to say the NFC is on the rebound, but the conference just isn't good. It's a two team conference....and you could argue that it's a one team conference... You know it's bad when 5-7 teams still have a chance this late in the season.. I think it's going to be a while... maybe when Peyton, Tom, & L.T. hang it up?
pointyfootball
When will it change!!!!!!!!?! WHEN?!!?! When the NFC gets better coaches and QBs.

OWUeagleMD
Little too young to remember the 80s through the mid-90s, huh? I think the fact that he remembers the 80's through the mid-90's allows him to anticipate that, like the NFC's most recent period of dominance, so to will the current AFC dominance eventually end. The period you're talking about was 15 years ago, I think I can understand a little frustration. When there are a few young, great QBs in the NFC, the tide will change. Until then we're playing with a short stack.
VCDefectors
The main difference is at the QB position. All you have to do is look at which conference had the highest number of top-tier QBs and that should tell you something.
DGreenistheBest
Within 5 years, the NFC will be the dominant conference again.
pjfootballer
QB's are a big deal now then they were in the 80's, but it's funny how Marino, Elway, Moon, Kelly, Fouts, Anderson and some of the other AFC QB's failed to win a SB. Only Elway in the late 90's. Meanwhile, Theismann, D. Williams, Simms, Hostetler, McMahon and such were winning SB's. Only name in the NFC that is in the HOF amongst those is Montana. The AFC probably has the star power at QB now, but they also had it during the 80's when the NFC was chewing them up and spitting them out. DWinzit
It isn't all about the QB's. I just saw this incorporated in a question on ESPN. Check out the NFCE represent in NFL sack leaders in 1986! 1. Lawrence Taylor NYG20.5 2. Dexter Manley WAS18.5 3. Reggie White PHI18.0 4. Sean Jones RAI15.5 5. Bruce Smith BUF15.

The 98' Broncos had a snowball's chance in hell of winning. The Pats had even less of a chance in 02' and the Steelers/Seahawks match-up was a toss up, I don't remember who was favored, but I'm sure it wasn't much. When will it change!!!!!!!!?! WHEN?!!?! dallasfan
Are you thinking Packers also? Ha Ha As long as Brett Farve has to come to Dallas, they won't win.
HapHaszard
Things will turn around count on it. The pendulum swings both ways. It seems like its been the AFC forever, but I still remember when it was "Which NFC East team will beat Buffalo this year."

hail2skins
If the Patriots get derailed enroute to Arizona, I would give Dallas (if they're the SB reps) a better-than-even chance of knocking off anyone else, including the Colts. Even if the Patriots make it, I think the Cowboys will give them a hell of a game, despite Vegas likely making NE at least a two-TD favorite (if recent trends hold true). Like it or not, Dallas is somewhat putting up a solid monster year somewhat under the radar.
