PATS-RAVENS TRIGGERS RECORD RATINGS

Monday night's

game between the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens resulted in the largest audience ever for cable television, ESPN has announced.

The game was seen by an average of 17.5 million viewers, leap-frogging High School Musical 2 and its 17.2 million viewers from August.

With 10 million viewers seeing portions of last Thursday's Packers-Cowboys game on NFLN, the new record could be in jeopardy if New England is 15-0 when it heads to Jimmy Hoffa's graveyard on December 29 for the final NFLN tilt of the year. And the local ratings in New York and Boston for the broadcast version of the game will likely be off the charts, as well.

Meanwhile, before anyone else sends an e-mail suggesting that the NFL's officials are intentionally giving the Pats calls in order to ensure that they're 15-0 when they play on NFLN, we suggest re-watching the Hail Mary pass that nearly ended the game with a

Ravens win. During the play, Baltimore receiver Derrick Mason literally tackles New England cornerback Asante Samuel while the ball is coming down. But no flag was thrown.

Is that game for real scheduled for NFLN?? If so, and if the Pats are still undefeated going in to the game, I would HATE to be a Comcast customer service person.
