Pete
With Wade injuring his ACL today, Stephon was thrown into service once again. From what I've seen of him, though he's still raw, he's doing an outstanding job. Looks like much of the presure on Jason came from his left even once Stephon came in. While LG didn't pan out, he's looking more and more like our long term solution at RT. I feel completely confident if Wade can't go, and would rather have the youngster in there anyway. There's little to no drop off, and all the time he gets in real game action lets him develop that much quicker.

Samuels did medicore against him. But, not too bad. I wish I watched him play. I didn't notice he was in there until the 3rd quarter. But, that is a really good thing. In JC We Trust
Darn Pete you beat me to it! I was just getting ready to start a thread on how well Heyer played today. I said it from the begining, I wanted Heyer over Wade. Heyer is much more athletic and he he has a "I need to prove myself" attitude that a veteran like Wade doesn't seem to have. I love this guy and hope he starts the rest of the year, and with Thomas coming back, I see this line carrying us to the playoffs.
bryceb07
He seems to be a good guy and has played well so far ... I met him at Dave and Busters friday night at white flint mall .... he seemed real relaxed but didnt want to talk about the game at all ... Guess he is the silent but deadly type ......... He's still pretty green, but I like his size and speed and feel for the game. I think that he may be a starter (not b/c of injury) either at RT and eventually LT in a year or two. By the way Walking Deadman - I told you last night your sig was always in my mirror - well - it was there today! True story, everytime a Dallas fan went into my bathroom - they said something/someone was staring back at them  . How do you do that?! Oh yes, and Heyer is a beast - has "earned" his position - time and time again.

I love Jon, but the injuries and age have taken their toll on him, and his play had dropped off prior to his injury this season. We haven't had him two out of the past three seasons due to injuries. Buges is big on loyalty, but I hope the spot isn't just given to Jansen, and Stephon is allowed to compete for the starting job next season. I've never been so optimistic after such a devastating loss. yeah dogg, this season is crazy. the arizona game was the worst i felt after a win, and this has to be the best i've felt after a loss, and it's to the cowboys at that. don't get me wrong, i'm kinda pissed now, and i was grateful then. but i can't wait til next week. Blackest Eyes
I really like Heyer. It would be really awesome if he could compete for the starting RT position.
corrupt3d
We should draft Andrew Crummey RIGHT NOW (and I dont care the if the draft is in April) he played next to Heyer in college and is considered a better OG than Heyer was considered an OT. Rodriggo
That was a big subplot of the second half. Heyer really was not victimized as much as I thought he would be. Granted we went no huddle and Campbell was in top form but still impressive nonetheless. Heyer really is huge and if our coaches can coach him up he might be a real special player and a RARE draft find for this front office..see Reed Doughty. If that isn't a sign he's gettin the job done, I don't know what is. That's the job of an offensive line. Unless you are the HOGS, nobody is supposed to know your name. The only time you'll hear about an offensive lineman is when he gets a false start or a hold, or when he's lining up against some star defensive player. Heyer was fantastic, again. I'm so happy to have him as a Redskin!
The Sisko
We got a heck of a steal with Heyer. I don't know that he'll ever be a starting LT but I think he may be our starter at RT next season and hopefully for a good while since I agree Jansen is done and Wade is probably near the end of the road too. And FWIW, we didn't draft Heyer. He was an undrafted F.A. Regardless, finding a "freebie" OL starter is huge for us since it means we won't have to devote a high pick to that for a while. If we can count on Samuels for a couple of more years, all we'll need is a couple of guards which we can get in the middle of the draft.
mi6
Um, I agree entirely. What an effing GREAT pickup! I've never been so optimistic after such a devastating loss. This is a great example of what good drafting can do for us. I would much rather attempt to get younger, hungrier, stonger, cheaper and more talented players to play for the Skins. Stephon is one of the many Terps who are playing in the NFL. I wish we could have gotten a couple more ... 1/ EJ Hendersen (LB) 2/ Sean Merrimen (DE) 3/ Dominque Foxworht (DB) 4/ Vernon Davis ... in my books we would eat Chris Cooley for breakfast. 40 yards in 4.1 secs! Now that is speed. And, he is ripped.
Dan T.
memo to the FO..*this is why the draft is important* Except, ironically, Heyer wasn't drafted. He was an undrafted free agent. I would like for Jason LaConfora follow up with those unnamed NFL sources who told him at the beginning of the season that Heyer couldn't play and that the Redskins were making a mistake with him. I wonder if they'll change their tune given his solid play when given the opportunity.
