is Saunders the problem?

teams have been keying on our ground game and we don't have to run the ball and get that 8th man in the box because they know were gonna run.

teams are taking away the ground game and daring us to throw the ball since gibbs doesnt like young signal callers.

gibbs always preaches his run to setup the pass philosphy.funny thing is our offense can suck but they always end up making the plays to get the lead

gibbs then goes into his OMG I GOTS TO PROTECT DA LEAD MODE!!!11!!!

and when we try and run the ball on those nice 8man fronts we get stuffed, and when we throw the ball its on 3rd on long where the obvious advantage is to the defense.

it's not the players faults it's gibbs philosophy.

he needs to take a page out of the bill walsh playbook.

it's called pass to set up the run.

Take off your glasses for a second and think about this.

Let me break it down for you:

Oline - Advantage Chiefs by a mile. He didn't have ProBowlers, he had 3 ALL PRO's.

QB - Trent Green then played better, made better throws, and was smarter with the ball then I've seen out of Jason Campbell. Advantage Chiefs

RB - The Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson players that were under Saunders beat the snot out of Clinton Portis and Laddell Betts all day. Advantage Chiefs but a landslide

TE - No one is better at catching TD's and gaining yards then Tony Gonzalez. Advantage Chiefs

WR's - That's a push in our direction but not by much

The players on the Kansas City teams were flat out BETTER then the players he has in Washington by a long shot. Now tell me who doesn't think this????

I will not argue with that. Clearly he does not have the same level of talent here but if we did not loose Jansen, Rabach & Randy Thomas we would be a different team.

You can argue that it was not a good move to bring him in when we did but you cannot argue that he has not been successful.

It takes time to put in his system. The first year under Saunders has historically not been stellar. KC was middle of the pack in his first year. Second year #1.

So you think that from what we've seen so far that this offense has the potential to be #1 in the league in a couple years? I don't see that possibility at all. What are you impressed with?

I'd expect you to say Jason Campbell but I'd say look at how many times he's thrown over the heads of our WR's when they were wide open. I'd say look at how many times he's had a man streaking down the field but over throws him by 1-10 yards. Is that what the QB greats did in the past? Or is it more likely that GOOD QB's make average players better like Marino did, like Trent Green did in KC, like all the other good QB's have done? And I'd ask you what about the running game makes you think were going in the right direction now? Betts doesn't look like the guy who ended last year. Portis is banged up and looking immobile. And what about our WR's? Santana our #1 is lost somewhere and not been seen since before Jason took over. And for that matter it doesn't matter who we bring in to play WR they aren't playing good unless your name is Randel El.

You think with these ingrediants that we have what it takes to be a GOOD offensive team capable of being the #1 team in the league and be better then the Pat's or Indy?

That's true but I didn't see anything special about the offense in game 1 against Miami or in the Pre Season to lead me to believe its only the injuries that are hurting us offensively

You are missing my point. Let me make it as plan as possible so there is not confusion. It is not Saunders it is the players period!!!! I agree with what you are saying about the players.

Portis is also not 100%. Everyone can see that. He admits he has left big plays on the field. He should have 10 TDs by now. He lacks the burst and is not getting to the next level.

Jason has to learn to get some touch on the long ball. He is leaving points on the field every game. Right off the top of my head he has missed Moss twice for TDs, Lloyd at least once. Cooley more times then I care to count. He is a work in progress, like the rest of the team. He is doing some things well but is still yet to brake out. He is feeling his way through the game.

Moss has done nothing. He quit on his team who was only down by 3 points. He followed that up with stellar performance as all the homers predicted. 2 catches 8 yards.

Cooley 1 catch for what 5 yards. He disappears way too much. A lot of it has been caused by the problems on the line. He is blocking more then he should be.

Randle El is the only one playing well game in and game out.

If you look at the list it all seems to flow back to a single point. The OL is devastated. Without Thomas, Rabach and Jansen.

Cooley has to block more. Hard to catch the ball when you are double teaming the DE.

Betts who cannot create for himself is all but naturalized.

Portis can't get to the next level because he is taking hits in the back field.

Campbell cannot drop and set deep because he will get killed if left exposed behind this line.

No excuse for Moss. Maybe he is on the pipe.

Its the players not the Saunders.

Saunders is an overpaid waste who's hurt this team more then he's ever helped it. In 2005 when we marched into the playoffs that was JOE GIBBS smash mouth football. Then the next season we had Saunders who supposedly has an 800 page playbook who only runs worse plays then when Gibbs was calling the plays. I want to dump Saunders because he's done nothing but bring distrations and disappointments to this team since arriving.

We marched in the playoffs with the defense leading the way.

Saunders is the problem and he was the major reason we lost to New York and Green Bay.

We lost to NY because we could not run it in from the 1 with 3 tries. Saunders play calling got us to the 1.

We fumbled the ball twice late in the game against Green Bay.

If my memory serves me correctly Saunders was not on the field for any of those plays.

We are 4-2 and are lucky to be that. We are not a great team. We are a team learning how to win. People need to be realistic about that. We do not have a team leader on the offensive side of the ball. We do not have that rock solid guy that gets it done week in and week out.

Where is our leader on the field who ups the level of everyone around them?

Wow, you just made the point for the OTHER point of view. KC didnt have a single great receiver and still managed to be the #1 offense in the NFL. We have CP and Betts at RB, and Cooley at TE, dont even get them active, and whats more, we havent even thrown a TD to a WR yet?

Saunders is not the problem. Gibbs wont let Saunders coach. Gibbs has repeatedly said he takes the reigns in games once we get a lead. The fact we get out to a lead so well shows you that Saunders is doing his job. The fact we have faded in every game this year show you Gibbs is clueless. Gibbs said himself that because our defense was playing so well, we were going to not try to do as well on offense. What the heck kind of coach actually does that? Because one half of your team is playing well, you dont try with the other half?

There is one thing keeping this team from being a good football team, and that is Joe Gibbs. Ive made too many excuses for him for to long, but to see a team with so much talent, get shown such disrespect from their own coach(NO confidence in them), calling them the biggest underdog in the history of sports, and saying they will struggle, I cant think of many coaches who would get away with that. His refusal to even try to score points is just embarrasing.

But no matter how many times the evidence points to him people will continue to blindly question Saunders, snyder, portis. GW's..

anybody but ole saint joe.....
