ffxdrummer
Fixed Boondock Saints. Thanks, I didn't read the part that said to put it where you thought it ranked, so I just stuck it at the bottom. I couldn't figure out why everyone wasn't as smart as me and just put their's at the bottom instead of making me hunt through the list to see what was added each time. Damnit. d0ublestr0ker0ll
haha... i love Good Fellas and Ghandi below Spaceballs. haha! Hell, the 3 movies above Ghandi and Goodfellas are Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Spaceballs and Dr. No. Yeah it was a good 007 movie but give me a break. And by the way, I dunno how Empire of the Sun is better than at least a half dozen movies sitting near or directly below it. d0ublestr0ker0ll
I agree, Goodfellas should be moved up. But not above Private Ryan. Yikes, I'm in the boat of thinking Private Ryan is overrated. Definitely not above Goodfellas. If it weren't for the opening 15 minutes, Private Ryan would be an average, massively budgeted, hollywood flick, much less a great one. Only thing that's really memorable, besides the beach landing, was how cool the sniper is. Band of Brothers blows it away.

CTaylor42
I'm debating on where to put "Plan 9 From Outer Space". It is without a doubt the worst movie ever made. But, it's so bad that it's good.

On one hand it captured how his men viewed him as some sort of superman and on the other hand it showed his humanity in his shaking hand, his finally admitting he was really just a school teacher, and his relationship with Sgt Horvak. :whoknows:

d0ublestr0ker0ll
Really?I thought Tom Hanks portrayal of Capt Miller was remarkable. On one hand it captured how his men viewed him as some sort of superman and on the other hand it showed his humanity in his shaking hand, his finally admitting he was really just a school teacher, and his relationship with Sgt Horvak. :whoknows: I dunno, I LIKE the movie and enjoy the story. But my film major buddy pointed out to me the mirror-effect Spielburg puts in his storylines. It was most apparent in Saving Private Ryan. I'd have to watch it again to point out details of what I'm talking about, and he could explain better than I could. But it seems like most of the awe you get from the movie is within the scale of the scenery. Budgeting was what won that movie some awards. There are cookie-cutter scenes that make you say "wow", but they were 2-step processes. Like the dogtag scene, pretty harsh scene, but how hard was it to think something like that up? Speilberg: "Ok guys start tossing these dogtags aside and look up to soldiers giving you bad looks." Speilberg: "Ok this sniper is going to take out Vin Diesel (Thank God), it's going to rain on a note he wrote to his dad and he'll die. That should get the majority of America to frown." It's more physical substance than acting. I dunno, it's just a movie I can't watch all the way through twice. I watched it once, and have no desire to watch it again without fast-forwarding through quite a bit of it. Band of Brothers is so much better, IMO. And credit to Tom Hanks, who I believe produced it. In the case of Goodfellas, it was the precision in the acting and the power of each scene which made me keep watching. Scorseci's (sp?) best movie, IMO. I don't think even Raging Bull has as much power. Maybe a few scenes here and there, like when Jake starts pushing his brother to tell him he banged his wife, reach the power of many scenes in Goodfellas. Also, in response to an earlier post, I've moved Empire of the Sun (my addition) down under Dr. Stranglove. When I added it, this list wasn't very long, and there are some under it that I would rank higher. I can't rank it below T2 or Resevoir Dogs though. G.A.C.O.L.B.
Seriously...Fear and Loathing...I would have put that near the bottom. Agreed. Fear and Loathing is only a great movie when you just dropped 5 hits of acid. Sober? No f'n way it's at the top of anything. And I'm a Depp fan, a Thompson/gonzo journalism fan. a drug movie fan. It's just not that good unless you are tripping balls yourself.
