G-Prime
Gibbs is a Hall of Fame Coach. The problem is, he is not a great evaluator of talent. The degree to which Bobby Beathard and Jack Kent Cooke contributed to the team's success is underestimated.Cooke + Beathard >>>>>>>> Snyder + Cerrato. That's what it boils down to. Exactly which is where we find ourselves today.. Snyder + Vinny = :pooh:
Jaded-Dragon
has been is a little rough.. You don't call a hall of fame anything a has been, it's just disrespectful. I will admit Gibbs seems to not be getting how the NFL is played today, but he knows his weaknesses and went out and got Saunders. I don't particularly think his system was weak regardless Gibbs has done everything I think he could do to get this team winning, at some point this has to fall into the lap of the players. I think I'm one of the few that think bringing Saunder's here was a mistake.. I think it just muddied the waters. All I hear is that Gibbs is old, or washed up or clueless.. Everyone seems to forget it was his 20 year old antiquated system that got us to the playoff's two years ago. His system worked when the players executed it. At the point the players were starting to get what he wanted to do, he brings in Saunders and changes everything again. I think we'd of grown from year to year if Gibbs stuck with his way of doing things and didn't bring Saunders in. I completely agree. 05 started out shakey, but by the end of the season we had a good foundation for the 2006 season. CP was tearing it up, Brunell was hitting Moss out deep, Cooley was emerging as a big time TE, and we went to the playoffs. And then we bring in Saunders and everything goes to hell. I've never really understood the decision, the Joe Gibbs playbook/playcalling seemed to be up to par by the end of 05.
jnhay
Gibbs cost us a lost last game why are you guys all over him? You do realize this is football we're talking about right? There's no enjoyment if you don't even like your own team.
isle-hawg
Last time I remember Gibbs going off on the media like that was before the 49er game a couple years ago. The 49er game was our most lopsided victory in GibbsII. Hopefully history will repeat itself!:logo:
Skinsfan8402
I also don't recall ever hearing about Gibbs 1 losing the entire right side of the hogs in one season while starting a QB who has experience in like 9 NFL games, along with an injured starting running back, while still getting berated with questions every week about why he isn't opening up the offense like everyone expected like he's some senile old loser who hasn't done anything in this league and never figured out how to run an offense (with inexperienced or injured weapons). Jesus show some maturity and respect for the best thing that ever happened to this organization. There is nobody out there who could be doing a better job with this team. Not Bill "I was a terrible coach until I got handed Tom Brady by accident" Belichick, not Tony "I inherited the best QB/WR combo in NFL history" Dungy, nobody. Hey hey I like Dungy and he is one hell of a coach. Don't forget what he did for Tampa before the Dolts. I agree with Belicheat though. Damnit I hate the Pats! Uno Mas
Man, am I glad I don't drink from the same water cooler you do. I must be a really sad person. Cuz, where Gibbs is concerned, there is NO HOPE for me. That man could take us to an 0-16 record & I would still be drinking his koolaid. :koolaid: Yep, you are precisely the kind of person I described. Thanks for stepping up to the podium. Gibbs I, I feel the same way you do. But I seperate myself and how I feel about him when I look at Gibbs II. The best thing Gibbs could do as our head coach is let the people he hired (Saunders, Williams) do their jobs. When he starts doing that on a regular basis, my outlook on him may start to sway a little. But I do not think Gibbs I and his accomplishments give him a free pass to suck it up for 5 years, as has been the case so far.
SkinsFanAnt
I didn't see it but its about DAMN time. Look how we played! I hope Gibbs will chew on nails every game so we can play like that. It was the best game since we blew out the Pukes in '05.
