Infiniti G35 Paint (New Body)

Winning Season Please!

Recommended Posts

I just puchased a new G35 sedan (red) and their seems to be swirl marks in the paint. It is all uniform over the car and the dealer rebuffed and waxed it but is telling me it is the "cross paint process" that makes this affect and is most noticable right from the factory and should fade soon.

Does anyone have any knowledge about if this is true or if they are just feeding me crap?:(

I'm not a paint expert, but I have done factory flow consulting work in automotive paint facilities and learned a fair deal about it. Unless you got the Delorean stainless steel body option, you should not be seeing swirly scratches in your new car's finish.

The factory paint process is so incredibly sensitive to even the tiniest atmospheric defect or glitch, it's amazing that they get so many paint jobs right the first time. Screwed-up factory paint is not unheard of. Or is this a botched post-factory patch up job that they aren't telling you about? Either way, it's not normal and I would insist on a car without the Mister Miyagi effect.

Well I'm not a expert, but I have painted cars for 3/4 of my life.

They are likely buffing marks and can be removed by anyone that knows what they are doing.

Only possible way to get swirl marks otherwise is the substrate under the paint to have them(which in a factory job is unheard of)

cross paint process huh?....I'll have to try that line next time I'm lazy.

He said he had a sedan bro. Not a coupe. G35 coupes are freaking suck cars. They are definalty my favorite ride as of right now. Hopefully in a couple years I can get one and put a turbo in that *****. I'll make her real fast. :D

The guys who "rebuffed" it were probably a couple of $7/hr. porters. Ask to have an inspection of the car by the Infinity District Service manager. Don't go unsatisfied and don't accept a repaint. Insist on getting the vehicle replaced if a professional can't buff out the marks.

that's what I'm thinking, the idiot in the new car detail dept. buffed it and left swirl marks in the paint. Tell them to give you a new car and tell that **** to the next sucker

Definetly take that thing back and demand eithe a new car or a new paint job.

I would love ot buy a G35 coupe, but up here in Canada the base price of a coupe-G35 not G37 which we dont have here yet for some reason- is about $50,000. and I believe they base price for about $35,000-$37,000 in the US.

That made sense a few years ago when our dollar was worht about 70-75 cents US, but now with the 2 currencies being so close to parity the prices need to come down. Or I will just have to buy my new car in the US and bring it back.

BTW, you are a very, very very smart man for buying an Infiniti with Nissan's VQ series engine. One of the most reliable V6's out there.

Cross paint process? LOL, what a load of ****. The shop detailers buffed the **** out of it and destroyed the paint in the process, return the car if it bothers you.

A detail specialist might be able to cut it and buff the swirl marks out, espescially if it's clearcoated.

Not something I'd want to go through on a brand new car though.
