my girlfriend is not a fan of my love for football.

she is trying to get me to go to her grandmas 80th birthday party and skip out on the lions game at home. i have a feeling i might have to skip the game, but im going to do everything in power to get to that game.

i commend you on your efforts, make her wish she didnt know you!

Go to Grandma's, kiss her on the cheek, say happy birthday and ask her where the remote is!!

My wife knows and understands my obsession. She also understands futility, since she's a Cubs fan after all. ;)

It is funny, but it is the women in that family that are the sports fan. Her mother watch all the sports and her father could give a rats' ass about the whole deal.

Jason

Same here. My mom is the diehard Redskins fan and my dad and sister watch NASCAR. My wife is from Peru and her family loves Soccer. She doesn't like any sports and she has grown used to my rants and cussing. She finds things to do or she does her homework during the games.

Yeah i took a girl 2 years ago to the cowboys game at home now i figured hey this girl thinks im her boyfriend( she didnt know that in my mind she was just a girl i called when i was drunk and have struck out) anyway it was the game where we destroyed dallas (cooley's 3 td's) and as we walked out of fedex i was giving every cowboy fan a piece of my mind chanting "DALLAS sucks" well she gets mad and says " Oh my god why are you being so mean to these cowbay fans .. Thats unfair and immature" well long story short I got a bj on the way home and never called her again... Now that was mean! And to this day i still get grief for waisting the ticket on her .

LOL. That hillarious. I had a girlfriend that would give me half time BJs once in a while. god I hate her. The BJs were good though.

Ever since i met my gf over 7 years ago (now wife of 1 year) , she has come to almost every game with me, minus the really cold games, shes a wuss

But she knows on game days, im on edge and anything will set my temper off, whats cool is at our house during away games, if im REALLY on edge, i get surprise BJ's and half time once in a while to calm me down, god i love her :silly:

That's pretty funny. I think I'm too nervous and hyper to think about sex during the game. I actually can't eat until the game is over.

My fiance claims that he knew he was definitely in love with me and I was "the one" when I brought him to the Skins' game with me and, even though he knew I was a fan, it totally caught him off guard when I screamed something laced with profanity at the refs about a BS call on my way down the steps to our seat. He thought I was more cheerleader-like than loud and boisterous, I guess.

He tells the story with a broad smile to all of his friends whose girlfriends typically HATE football. Don't know what's wrong with those women! *lol*

Please. I have boys that are afraid of going to games with ME. Once I tell them how I got escorted out of the bar bc I had started throwing peanuts at some Eagles fans and had to have my bengals friends hold me back they start making excuses. Damn it's hard to find a good man in the south.

I have a newly aquired boyfriend and he's a Giant's fan.... but I have him coming to the game sunday at the bar wearing a "free sean taylor" shirt and i'm only getting that bc he's not in his hometown and they play sunday night.....

Jess, welcome to the ES board!

Lose the newly acquired Giants fan, you'll be happier in the long run. Unless you think there's an outside chance for a conversion, it's time to make the break.

I had a friend that converted from the Giants during the "Ray Handley" years (too bad the conversion was to the Cowboys). Maybe the "Tom Coughlin" years will be enough to make your friend jump.

Mine won't go to another game with me. I went to the Skins/Chiefs game 2 years ago and got in an arguement/fight with about the whole section. I'm sure alot of people on here who go to the games are just like them (rude and nasty to the other team), but I am just flat out not taking it...PERIOD!!!! First of all I think it's asinine to be rude and unmannerly to a person just because they like a team that we're playing. And second, I just don't take smart-ace's very good at all. Anyway, I represented even though the Skins lost (got ripped off on that Holmes screen, I could see the hold VERY easily), and got to watch the punter jack up mr Boerigner(?).

all I can say is to carry an FM radio and some ear buds. if you only keep one in, people may not notice.

and yes, I have done this before. it worked really well. and if the game doesn't come in, spend a bit and get one of the portable Sirius radios. :applause:

I'm taking my girl to her first ever game this Sunday. It was her idea in the first place to go to a game this year so we're already off to a good start. So far the only gametime demeanor shes seen was when we played the Titans in the preseason. She just laughed at the fact that it was preseason and not a real game yet I was still yelling at the tv. She does respect my passion for the game and team so I already think shes an awesome girl. Hopefully after this Sunday she'll want to go to more games.

When I first met my current gf about a year and a half ago, she didn't know very much, if anything, about the current NFL.

She informed me that she used to be......yes.......a Cowboys fan.....but she added that it was only because "her Dad would watch the games and always root for the Cowboys, so that's the only thing she knew"......

I informed her about my ridiculous obsession with the Redskins, and she sort of dismissed it as "boy talk". (This was in late March, leading up to the '06 draft).

We continued dating throughout the summer.

Fast forward to the end of the Minny game and when she saw me and Fakeman on our knees in front of the TV right before the FG attempt....she knew she was dealing with an bonafide whacko.

The Jax game last year sparked something inside her soul, and after that, she was glued to the TV EVERY Sunday. She would ask me questions about the game and what certain things meant etc. etc.

She learned most of the players on the team and bought a Santana Moss jersey.

We went to the Carolina game and had a blast (it was her first live NFL game). She was screaming and pounding the seatbacks right along with the rest of us.

She hasn't stopped talking about the Redskins since.......

I love her.

Oh and if it seemingly can't get any better than that.......she's a stripper. :D

We'll be at the Philly game at Fed-Ex this year.....it's going to be.....a show.

When we were dating my wife surprised me with tickets to a Redskins Eagles game at FedEx. We were sitting about 10 rows off the field at about the 40 yard line. It the first game I ever went to. She didn't realize at the time the passion I had about the Redskins but she knows now! Little did we know at the time, but she was a couple of weeks pregnant at the time!

My wife has no interest in coming to a game. That's okay. Sports is what I use to get away from the wife.

On the embarassment part, she gets embarassed if I do something SLIGHTLY out of the ordinary. If she sees me at a Redskins game, we're looking at divorce:silly:

Yeah well I don't know if I have had an experience like that. My wife is a steeleres fan so she is sympathetic to my team. She will route for the redskins when they aren't playing the redskins. She pretty much knows to stay out of the Redskins cave when they are losing, but I got really superstitous one time during a Notre Dame game last year. During the Michigan State game she would leave the room and Notre Dame would do poorly and then she would come back in Notre Dame would do well. I finally told her in the fourth quarter that she couldn't leave and Notre Dame ended up winning.

If she were to do that during the redskins she might be locked in for the long hall, so she knows not to hang around too much. Although she was there for me during the Dallas game at Fed Ex. She watched the part where they blocked the kick and made the long field goal. It was great memories!

So, uhh, she didn't watch the game @ PSU during the 4th quarter huh? ;)
