TheLongshot
Is it just me or is this year a little different than last year....?I don't remember this many close battles to make the team last season. The coaches have been saying that level of talent in camp this year seems to have exceeded all previous years and that there were some damn good players who wouldn't make the roster. CrazyLikeAFox87
I don't think Gibbs' statements rule out a trade. All he's saying is that he expects him to be on the roster, which means he won't be cut. It doesn't mean that there won't be a trade at some point.Really, there isn't a good reason right now to cut Brunell. Jason When asked if there was any truth in the trade rumours, didn't Gibbs reply "No"? Seemed fairly emphatic to me. As for the reason to cut Brunell, I would agree with you after Palmer's performance. But what if Leftwich was cut or offered for trading? He would be an upgrade on both Collins and Brunell and he's much younger.
BlackMagic21
You mean sucky Byron Westbrook that arm tackled Reggie Brown and let him score a TD? one bad play doesnt make a person sucky lol
TheLongshot
When asked if there was any truth in the trade rumours, didn't Gibbs reply "No"? Seemed fairly emphatic to me. Well, that the rumors were incorrect, but there was nothing there that said that Brunell was untouchable. As for the reason to cut Brunell, I would agree with you after Palmer's performance. But what if Leftwich was cut or offered for trading? He would be an upgrade on both Collins and Brunell and he's much younger. If Leftwich had a brain, he wouldn't sign with us. I don't see the upside for him to be on a team where he'd probably would never have a chance to see the field. His odds are better in Atlanta and Minnesota. McD5
Please ask Gibbs where his attention is really at. In nascar, where he makes 5x as much money per year, and has just decided to change sponsors? This would be common sense for most people. Or with our beloved Skins, where he gets paid a ton less..... Reverend Gonna Change
OK..THIS CRAP HAS TO END.MY FRIGGIN MEDIA PLAYER WONT LET ME SEE THE PRESSER. It wont open. I am really pissed. With Gibbs it's always what he says between the lines. The BIG news to me was this: A couple players made the team based on their play in Thursday's game. Mason/Trucks anyone? JLC has a hunch that Mason and Wilson made it. Trucks? Not much seemed to happen. Yet, as usual, a lot did. They'll archive it for you, Blondie. There's still time. Reverend Gonna Change
Maybe it's me, but Gibbs seemed poker-faced when asked about Brunell. He denied the rumors, but didn't exactly affirm that Brunell would be on the squad. Wiggle room!
AmeriplanDentalMan
Mark Brunell will be on the team until Joe Gibbs retires from coaching. Mark will be here this year and even next year if Gibbs returns. Gibbs is enamored with Mark and trusts Mark to hand off for that power running game. Nothing anybody can do about it so stop ****in. I have finally accepted it.
RedskinDan0557
In preparation for the announcement of cuts, can someone clarify for me what the rule is regarding carrying an extra NFL Europa player? I've googled it, but I have not been able to find the specifics.
pez
Oh, and a special message for all the current and future wives and husbands of fans: In eight days from now a journey will begin. This journey is an integral part of your spouse's being. Don't mess with it. Don't schedule play dates, wedding rehearsals, ring-shopping, house-painting, baby-showers, tupperware-parties, or emergency surgeries that involve your spouse while the game is on. This includes the pre and post game as well as time for ES. Quoted for truth. I don't think I will have this issue with Huly

I have finally accepted it. So Brunell will be on the team. That's not news to me...I never believed the rumors... Let me ask this about Mark: Is he or is he not one of the best BACK-UP QB's in the league? YES, he is! And the trade interest from other teams proves it. He knows the system and has a ton of experience. Of course he's not what he once was, but what 37 year old QB is? Like most others, I was impressed with Collins in preseason, but to be honest, his lack of regular season experience scares me. If, God forbid, Jason goes down for an extended period of time, do you really want to put the Redskins' fate on the shoulders of a guy that has thrown less than 30 regular season passes in the last TEN years?? I don't....especially if Palmer or some FA pickup that doesn't know the system is behind him.

No, and it could be a while before anything formal. As I alluded to in my update, we have some idea, but nothing certain. We've probably seen about a dozen guys come through. As I alluded to in my update, we have some idea, but nothing certain. We've probably seen about a dozen guys come through. It must be hard to remain objective on a day like today. It's hard on the coaches, hard on the players, and even hard for fans to watch.

Don't schedule play dates, wedding rehearsals, ring-shopping, house-painting, baby-showers, tupperware-parties, or emergency surgeries that involve your spouse while the game is on. This includes the pre and post game as well as time for ES. See.. This is an eloquent statement that addresses a serious problem within my familial unit. JJ, If you haven't copyrighted this statement, may I use it in a letter to my Mom? The problem with my family is that everyone was born in the months between September and January! As a Redskins fan, this is wholly unacceptable, and I have voiced my opposition to everyone. Unfortunately, my Mom seems to think that everyone deserves a separate celebration, and this is usually planned to occur on Sunday afternoons. I have notified my family via certified mail that this weekly occurrence on The-Day-of-Days .. a day where only two things should occur: church and Washington Redskins football (and thank God that my Church has a duplicate service on Monday nights) is superfluous and is not only discouraged, but will NOT be permitted, nor considered! Besides, after about the 38th time you've celebrated your brthday, how important or exciting is it?! I have submitted a motion to cancel ALL future celebrations of birthdays between the months of September and the middle of February, or at the very least, ONE mass celebration on the BYE week will be tolerated. Unfortunately, this has made me somewhat of an outcast amongst my family members. I figure that NOT missing a Redskins game is sufficient compensation for being despised by my family! Fortunately, my wife who was born in St Louis but has become a Redskins fan via osmosis supports me 100%. You do what you have to ...
