Are folks that hard-up for a job?

The abuse goes both ways here. The employees dish out food and profanity-laced insults. And that's what keeps people coming back, the novelty of it. There are delis in New York that pride themselves on being rude to customers, in an endearing NYC way. But at the Weiner Circle, the customers dish it back. So far, fine. Everybody knows what to expect going in. But the racial undertones are disturbing, if they are as pronounced as insinuated in this clip. There seems to be a line crossed there. It no longer becomes in good fun, and real anger rises. I would like to know if there have been any incidents of violence since this side show started.

Has anybody on the board ever been there?

I wondered whether violence ever breaks out, given the underlying hostility that seems to exist. Here's a review by someone named John C.

So this place is known for the staff mocking and isulting you while you are ordering. It's a shtick that gets a little old but it is amusing enough I suppose. I will say it is more amusing at 3 am when you probably deserve most of it. I do however have to draw the line when they actually pull a 12" knife on you because the one person serving food is too stupid to realize that you paid the person behind the counter who was collecting the money. Call me old fashioned but I think that pulling a knife on your customers is actually a bad business practice even when you are known for insulting them. The ensuing physical altercation wtth staff did nothing to impress me either. My buddy was hit across his face with a broomstick which left him unable to chew his food for a week. Now, how is he supposed to eat at Weiner's Circle when he can't actually chew his food? Another questionable customer service decision on their part. And if you think that we somehow deserved this treatment from the staff, well, Chicago's finest disagreed and let us all walk away. The key moment of the evening was when the knife wielding server told the cops that she should ahve just "gone ahead and cut all [our] ****ing throats". Classy.

I haven't even mentioned that the food here is ridiculously overrated. The dog's themselves are mediocre and often without flacor and served on soggy buns. This place is just one bad joke.

The sad thing is that the main woman behind the counter seems like a pretty articulate person that doesn't have to work there. I can't say I would find a place like that a place I would care to grab a late night drunken meal.

My hometown in Lynchburg VA has the Texas Tavern, or T-Room, which serves greasy hamburgers...hotdogs.. and chili. A tiny 12 seat diner with one long counter. Food is awsome... and the wait staff yells the orders to the cook and often yells at the customers.

As someone who lives about 500 feet from this place (i know my prof still says SS) it gets absolutley out of control. Some of the things you hear said (both from in front of and behind the counter) are terrible. It gives drunk people (again, they are on both sides of the counter!) an excuse to think they can say whatever they want... and between mob mentallity and booze, lines are crossed pretty frequently.

That said, the video is pretty one sided because the racist filth that is spewed there on a regular basis comes from employees and customers alike (seems to be worst with black customers, a lot of n-bombs which then leads to some white customers using it as well)

I go there semi regularly (mainly during the day) and got to "know" a couple of the folks that work there (as well as you know any store employees that you see frequently) and they know the abuse they are coming in for, they accept it bc the money is VERY good at night (by serving standards).

It is a crazy scene, the bottom rung of human existance...but both the employees and the customers find something about it that they like
