Confusing and possibly serious health problem **UPDATE-DIAGNOSED**

So here's the situation, as it happened 2 weeks ago today.

Around 7pm, I began nursing a 40 of Steel Reserve :puke:

I literally nursed this bottle, because I was busy running my mouth all night, and didn't finish it until about 11pm. That averages out to less than one beer an hour for 4 hours. I normally drink either 3 glasses of red wine, 4-5 beers, or 5-6 shots nearly every night, or at least I did before that night, so I was nowhere near my limit. I usually drank from about 9pm-11pm and went to bed.

So anyway, I finished drinking around 11pm, and went to bed shortly after midnight. At 2:30 am, I woke up with a horrible sense of nausea, but not the kind you usually get if you drink to much, a weird kind I had never felt before.

I remember getting out of my bed to go in the bathroom in case I ended up throwing up. I don't remember ever making it out of my room. I remember getting up out of bed to rush to the bathroom, and the next thing i remember is smashing my face into something hard in the bathroom as I collapsed to the floor, then I woke up on my back with my head between the toilet and bath tub.

I could not focus at all. The room wasn't spinning like when you get ****faced, but it felt like my eyes were scattering all over the place and couldn't focus.

When I tried to stand up, it took everything I had to pull myself off the floor, almost like I was tied down to the ground. I managed to make it to my feet, but collapsed up against the sink. I checked my pupils in the mirror, and they were normal size, but my eyes were still wondering all over the place.

I would've fallen again, but the position I collapsed in was forcing my knees against the sink cabinet, and acting as a brace to support me.

I tried to splash water in my face, but couldn't, because I was shaking really bad, and I was breathing very heavy and very fast. I literally could not process a single thought at all, and didn't know what to do. I ended up somehow in the kitchen, and dumped a glass of ice water on my head, drank a glass, and dumped another glass on my head.

When I dumped the second glass on my head, I snapped out of it immediately, like nothing had ever happened. I checked my blood pressure, and it was normal as well.

I have never had anything even remotely close to this happen, and have never heard of such a thing.

I don't see how it could be from the alcohol since I drank so little over a long span, and it happened almost 4 hours after I quit drinking.

Does anyone know what the hell this could possibly be? I haven't drank since out of paranoia, but I honestly don't know if that matters.

I know everyone will say go to the doctor, which I will soon enough, but has anyone ever heard of something like this? ANy remote ideas what could have caused it, or what it could've been that actually happened to me?

I've been terrified to drive ever since, because I don't want to take the chance of it happening while I drive, and sometimes even the thought of going to bed scares me, because I don't want it to happen again.

Please, if anyone has any idea what this might be, even a slight possibility, please let me know, and thank you in advance everybody.

EDIT: My wife just informed me that we had chicken and apple sausages and velveeta that night. I ate it, so did she, our 2 kids, and both our parents, and everyone else was fine.

what did you eat that day? It might have been quick case of food poison.
I never thought of that actually, but everyone in the house ate what I ate, and the 2 other times I got food poisoning I had some very horrid bowels if you know what I mean, and that didn't happen this time.

My first thought is it could have been some sort of seizure, they can happen to people at any age even with no prior symptoms. I know you don't want to hear it but get to the doctor ASAP. They'll run some tests on you and if it was a seizure they can get you medicated.

I had epilepsy when I was a kid but my seizures were nothing like that, they were "complex partial seizures" which pretty much just make you zone out and lose focus of where you are, what you're doing, and your surroundings in general. My parents saw me have one and took me to the docotor and they got me on some meds for a while and I haven't had one since I was 12. In my case they were certainly a risk but not extremely dangerous. If that was a seizure you had, it was dangerous and you could be at risk for another one...again get to the doctor and find out what's up.

(I love the sig, BTW)

I was thinking this might be a possibility actually. I have has polyps in the past that I had removed from my nasal cavities, and I get headaches pretty much every day. To be quite honest, I have been to the doctor more times than the average person because I tend to be accident prone, and have never had a problem going to the doc. Tis is different however, because the though of the unknown has been terrifying the **** out of me since it happened. I do know I need to get checked out though.

my guess is you might have kidney stones and the pain part hasnt come yet.

Kidney stones can make you nasueaus and very week and after the attack you are fine the next attack you might be on the ground crying

In which case, you would want to walk around with a strainer and pee into it, so when the stone passes, you can catch it in the strainer, and bring it to the Doctor, they send it to the lab, test it, and determine what it's made of, and find the cause of it, so you can prevent it from happening again.

If you don't have a strainer, use one of those Callendars in your kitchen that you strain spaghetti with, but make sure you tell your mother or your roommate that you pissed into it, before they make spaghetti again.

FWIW, I'm not a Doctor but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night.

OK, here's what I think. First, I think you're crazy for waiting two weeks to address this, and then to do so by asking about it on a message board.

Now, with that said, the symptoms you describe could have been almost anything...none of them good. You might have had some kind of seizure, or it could have been a T.I.A. (mild transient stroke) or possibly even syncope (fainting brought on by cardiac problems). Given the lack of G.I. symptoms and the fact that others that ate the same thing didn't experience any problems, I don't think it's foodborne illness. Likewise, because you didn't really drink a whole lot, it probably wasn't alcohol either...unless you're on some kind of prescription drugs and had a reaction.

In addition to whatever caused the original problem, it sounds like you hit your head fairly hard so you might have sustained a mild head injury. Either way, get your arse to the Doctor NOW!!! Go the the ER if you have to but get seen immediately.

Could it be serious Anxiety or you were just %$# faced. But in all honesty, If that happened to me I would have been at the ER.

Headaches could be a symptom of a seizure disorder. It is scary as **** to go find out something is wrong with you but it's worth it to find out now and have it taken care of before it gets out of control, you know what I mean?

Keep me updated on what happens.

It's interesting that you say that, because I was diagnosed with a a TIA accompanied by hypoxia about 3 years ago. I went to the ER, and they gave me a breathing treatment, CT Scan, a 3 day blood thinner and sent me on my way.

The attacks may differ from time to time with those, I don't know, but when I had it that one time, the symptoms were nowhere even similar to this occurence, I just got a major haedache and couldn't breathe when I had the episode a few years ago.

I know, the anxiety of the situation is ****ing with my head, but I have a family and myself to worry about, so I will be going, and I will keep everyone updated.

I know what it is... He watched mark brunell highlights from last year.

:wtf: Highlight? Are you new here? :whoknows:

A friend of mine's wife had similar symptoms and after being misdiagnosed a half dozen times they determined she had some kind of brain infection. They checked her for MS, meningitis (sp.) and a few other things but found nothing. She had to go to a specialist to find out what the daal was. I still have my doubts he was even right. That biatch is crazy anyway.

So, when all was said and done, she was just a woman?

A woman I work with had a similar experence and did nothing. A week later, she had a serious stroke, taken to the ER, then after some tests, was helivacted to another hospital to treat her for lung and brain cancer. She is a great ladie, really sucks, but she's tough.

Try to see a neuro.

Just adding one more "run don't walk." I know it will take a bit to get seen as you've shown you aren't in immenant danger. By waiting 2 weeks, you will probably wait 2 more. Seriously, go to your primary care doc, and if he/she doesn't have an answer, ask for a neurology referal (all of this assumes insurance). Even if you insur will cover going straight to the neuro, go to the primary care first. They can usually get you an appointment with the neuro faster...seems odd that adding an extra step is faster, but it seems to be the way things go.

This is definitely not something to play with - go see a doctor... today.

I agree that it likely had little to do with the amount you drank but I must say that that is a high amount of alcohol to consume on a daily basis. Drinking that much can cause consequences down the road.
