heyholetsgogrant
Man this guy is washed up, his shows have been on the decline for the last 6-12; His guest have dried up (probability dude to his small satellite audience), He takes every Friday Off, 10 weeks of vacation a year, Holidays, Leaves Early, Rushes the News, Increased bumper time, and has the Nerve to say hes was a A-Type personality. I haven't Heard a good show in months, and haven't heard a new one in weeks because he takes so many vacations and days off. Howard has a new nickname on the internet, he is official Hampton Howard. The 500 million he got really changed him, and he might as well not even show up. -Grant

dg28daman
He's no edgy anymore...he revolutionized the genre of "shock jock" but hes not the best anymore. I'd put Opie and Anthony over him anyday...as far as morning shows the Junkies are as good as it gets right now IMO.
Buddy Dude
I was a fan in the old days. I have no sympathy for the fools who paid for satellite radio JUST because he went there. His shows have sucked for years, he's the Jerry Springer of radio. I haven't heard him since he left for satellite, but the last few years of his show were garbage, because all it was was dick and titty jokes and Howard trying to get flashed. This has no appeal to radio fans whatsoever. I personally think that when he took the $500 million, he **** on his real fan base. :2cents:

RyansRangers
ur wrong :2cents: i've been listening since 1992, the writing on the show, the content and the cast is better than it has ever been no hes not.... Stern used to be enjoyable and I used to love my long commute.. Now I am glad I have a 5 min commute because his show is brutal boring.. He never does or says anything new.. I have switched to sports radio now because, like it was said you will only get him live once in awhile.
Big Weirdo
lol @ the guy who said the Junkies were as good as it gets nowadays. If thats true then morning radio in DC must be the worst market for anything from 5am-10am.

PokerPacker
my favorite radio personalities were ron and fez, but now they've moved to satellite as well. haven't heard them since. maybe i'm too young, but stern never really appealed to me. as buddy said, it was all about getting him flashed which just wasn't entertaining

But getting, back to Stern. Even Artie Lange is non-involved anymore he frequently sleeps during the show (no joke) and seems not interested at times. He's been complaining lately, because hes unable to further his career (sitcoms, movies etc) because of the stern show (many believe he will not renew his contract after this year). Whats the deal with Howard always rushing the news over the last month? (usually that was the best part of the show). Don't get me wrong the first year of Sirius was great, but the last 6 months have been painful.. -Grant
Heisenberg
I find Stern to be extremely entertaining and I couldn't imagine a commute in the AM without listening to him. I guess maybe I'm not old enough to remember his early stuff though.
Riggo-toni
I've never heard the satellite show, but his FM show was horribly stale the last few years. Always the same 3 bits: 1.) Ranting about the FCC. 2.) Chewing out one of the employees, usually Scott or Baba-Booey 3.) The aforementioned stripper flashing bits, which were actually much more interesting than the previous 2. He never had a decent writer once Jackie left the show. Artie Lang is boring as hell, the Ed McMahon of radio.
Chachie
Howard Stern was the first, the finest and the father of modern comedy radio. It's almost a shame he has the shock label because the shock never kept me listening. It was the fact that he's a genuinely funny person. There are a million "shock jocks" out there but they will all always pale in comparison to the original because they are not truly FUNNY. Shock entertainment without true humor is junk. He broke down the walls, created a genre and to this day not a single one of his copiers can hold a candle to him. They all made their runs at him and they all fell to the wayside. A lot of them came crawling to Stern for a satellite show on Sirius after their shows failed or they were fired for being shocking w/o being funny. He took on a few, but most of them burned their bridge to Howard when they tried to make it big by opposing him. I have listened since the day he arrived at DC101 in the mid-late 70s. I love the Sirius show. If you've tried it and didn't like it, I can respect that. BTW- I was one of the "fools" who did get Sirius because of Howard, but I also get NFL radio, ESPN radio, NBA Radio, Playboy Radio, Discovery Channel Radio, CNN radio, Maxim radio, stand-up comedy radio, and 3-5 channels for every music genre you can name. I get all these and more WHEREVER I go. I can drive to California and never change the station if I don't want to. $13 a month is NOTHING for all that. Lemme ask you this, do you think his shows have taken a dive in the last few months? BTW I was one of the fools as well, but you right there is sooo much freggin content on satellite radio it really doesn't matter if Howard is on or not. Most of the time I end up switching channels anyway. -Grant

It's normally slow this time of year because people are usually on vacation (guests included). It will pick back up again in September. Sounds like you are just mad because he takes so much time off now. BTW, how can you think he doesn't have an A-type personality? He is a classic example of an A-type. You don't get that sucessful not being an A-type. I bet he works on his vacations. Overall, the shows have been 1,000% better on Sirius then reg radio. There has been a huge amount of new content, shows, etc on Howard 100 & 101. I'm glad I have Sirius because its crushes anything on reg radio. Opie and Anthony and The Junkies better then Stern? LMAO!! Thanks for the laugh!

headexplode
I agree. He hasn't been funny since about the time Jackie Martling left the show. He's become the A (B?) list celebrities he used to mock so well. He's boring and tired and should finally be put down. I used to love his show when I was younger. Though I never really understood the appeal of having girls take off their clothes . . . on the ****ing radio. Yeah, never really made much sense to me. He can see the boobies, I have to imagine them. Do you know how hard it is to drink a cup of coffee driving to work trying to masturbate while imagining naked girls? It's harder than it sounds. USS Redskins
I have been a fan since the DC101 days, too and the shows have never been better on Sirius. I agree, its really annoying that he works 4 days a week and has 10 weeks vacation a year - plus holidays! I am sorry but that is not an Type A personailty. HeyHo (Ramones Freaking Rule!) is right that he is rushing to get out every day - it's annoying. They all seem to have better things to do than the show. I do wish that they would play old shows on 101 - I dont care about Bubba or Ferrell or any other stupid show they put on there - I pay for Howard and it would be great if they just kept playing the old tapes on 101. If Howard leaves Sirius, so do I. The other stations are ok but not worth the trouble and cost.
Koolblue13
I've been a fan of Howard longer than I can remeber. I also had the sirius, before he came over and will have it after he leaves. I only listen to 5 channels, Punk, Outlaw, Raw Dog, Bluegrass and mostly NFL. I listen to Patriot sometimes, but usually end up a little to worked up to be productive. I tired of Howard shortly before he came to satillite. I listen sometimes, but just can't get into it. I've never listened to any of the other "shock jocks", it's not my thing, but Howard is different. Atleast he used to be. One thing that's for sure, he truely is, the King of the Media. ACW
I don't get Howard. I enjoy crude humor, but Howard is only rarely funny. And he's extremely thin-skinned. DB44
Since he moved to Satellite, Howards show has been hilarious. Artie Lange is much more open than Jackie ever was, although they seem to go with the "as the Artie turns" a lot lately. I would agree his show has declined the last couple of months, but from the begining of last year to about April of this year it been great. :2cents:
CHUBAKAH
When he was on the regular radio people listened because he would push the edge. Now he can do or say whatever he wants. Who didn't know this would change the show and make him lose listeners? Some like him, some don't. No one in the thread is wrong. :2cents:
USS Redskins
The naked girl on radio thing is really stupid. It's fun once in a while to hear him goof on a hot chick but who cares when you are listening to a naked girl? They do curse WAY too much - I dont mind myself but I am driving my kids to daycare and my 2 year old started saying "s**t" so I have to wait till I drop them off to turn it back on. Anyone have Howard TV? I have satellite and cant get it - probably wouldnt pay for it anyway.
