z0eboy
Let's not get to excited about preseason, we know on defense G Williams will make that side of the ball much like it started in 2005. Now that the skill players on offense have their 2nd year in the system and have a QB that can make all the throws, this could be a top 10 offense by the end of the regular season. I believe the skins will surpass what A Saunders accomplished with the Chiefs offense. Our line may not be better now but as the year progress and they gel together im sure the offense will be able to carry the team. I'm prepared to see some growing pains on offense but if the defense plays like in 2005, the offensive unit should come along just in time to make a strong playoff run. z0eboy
Because offensively the skins havent shown much, all other post seem to focus on the defense.... i wanted to go out on a limb before the bandwagon starts
Riggo-toni
KC had an incredible OL, the 2nd best RB in the NFL, the 2nd best TE, and a top 5 QB. We have better WRs, but that's the only position. If our O is top 10, I'll be ecstatic, but it won't hold a candle to the Chief's O.
LoudMouth12thMan
Good points. Let me ask you something. If we're top 10 on offense (which I believe is a stretch) and top 10 on defense (which I believe is an understatement b/c of how good they look) won't we go to the Dance baby? z0eboy
good post Riggo, RB Portis and Betts TE Cooley could have a breakout season along with Campbell, talent wise definatly better WR corp. The OL play will make us top 10 if not better, you have to admit the potential to have a probowl line this year running in Saunders offense. I would contend only that our WR corps has the potential to do more than KC did when Al was there. So far of the 3 only Santana can weigh his stats over his potential. I hope this season gives ARE and Lloyd more success. I think Campbell can be a lot more mobile than Green was in KC as well. Once again though- "potential." We'll see. Touchdown Redskins
We have the potential to be great, but I'm not holding my breath because unless our line is 100% and stays that way, we won't be able to do anything.

Yesssir! :point2skyHTTR I expect us to go very far IF our key players on defense (Griffin, Springs and Washington) stay relatively healthy. I think our O will be smashmouth - I think Betts and Portis will BOTH break 1000 yds. Cooley will have big year. Moss will do well, though probably not as well as in '05. Still, I don't think we'll light them up as much as people hope. Campbell will give us hope some weeks, and break our hearts other times. Barring a rash of injuries, I expect our D to be top 5. In essence, I see our team as being very much like the Bears were last year.

Let down... maybe, that would be more consistent of the recent past years. I can see the D being as good as 2005. Just don't foresee much in the way of an elite change. There is potential, but that's all it is until they get on a roll, get a setback, then get right back to it. The injury bug has been a plague and depth has been an issue. Maybe this team will get a little lucky and win a division. Reality is that they will probably see similar results as they did in 2005. Now, that's optimistic. Peace. :gaintsuck :eaglesuck :dallasuck
BDOG510
This sounds like the same crap you guys were saying last year. This offense still sucks!!! The defense has been impressive however. 8-8 at best.

The defense has been impressive however. 8-8 at best. My whole point is the offensive play calling by Saunders is something the skins havent had since Gibbs returned. Saunders track record proves more value than any other OC, hes the best at what he does and in the 2nd year with the skins should make a greater impact with the offense. 8-8 because the defense looks impressive? wait until mid season when people start to jump on the Saunders gravy train. GibbsFactor
I'll add by saying that this is, in fact, the second year of a very historically successful offense. So you are saying that Priest Holmes was better then Clinton in the same time of their careers? How about Trent Green? In his third year was he the anointed 1st round draft pick taking the reigns for the first time? We don't know if they are better or worse as we really haven't seen them in this offense yet. Last year we had a geriatric quarterback, a back up running back, and a break first defense plus a brand new playbook. This preseason we've had less but everyone should be ready to go come the first game. I'm more excited to see this offense in 07 then I was in 06. dinzelwashington
to "al" those who are lookin at trent green. larry johnson, tony gonzalez is the reason why chiefs were so good...... hmmmmm.. lets take a look at the rams when al saunders left. marshall faulk was faulkin up. getting tackled behind the line of scrimmage..rams deadly screens wasnt so deadly anymore. years progress, faulk decided to retire... isaac bruce and torry holt arent the best duo in the game anymore.. kurt warner got demoted marc bulger starts... so after al left the high powered rams, st louis left as well.... and slowly dehrydrating is the high power offense of the chief.. hmmm trent green got traded... tony gonzalez tds and yardage went downhill last yr... the only game plan chiefs got is give it to larry johnson.. and the reason hes getting them yards is due to O-line experiece.. al saunders is the commander on O. he is the master of shifting offenses around to get the defense off gaurd to set up the blockers for screen passes and hot routes. Now its up to jason to grasp his playbook mentally and read defenses.. So until that hopeful short period of time, we will be the new great offense. Ant15fromNJ
If we can be a top 15 offense which we should and top 10 defense we are going to be good and I really think we can do it.
The Sisko
I started thinking the same way as Z0eboy when we added P. Kendall. It'll take a bit of time but as the line gels and Campbell gets more game experience under his belt, this offense will be very different from the one that takes the field against the Phish. If we manage to start out at 5-5, there's a good chance we go on an offensive tear at the end of the season and finish having won 10 or even 11 games. Think about it. Our defense is looking really good. Just like with Williams' first two years here, if we manage to field an offense capable of scoring about 20 pts. a game, we win most games hands down. I'm thinking the last 6 or 8 games of this season could be the year it finally happens.

z0eboy
its a proven trend if you look at what A Saunders has done in the past. The 2nd year is when all his skill players have a breakout year. They will all know where to be and enjoy having pass and run plays drawn up by Saunders. I would hope to think the redskins can produce with his playcalling ability. The verticle scheme was absent and used in case of emergency with Brunell the first 2 seasons. Skins have skill players that can be deep threats and spread out defenses. 700 page playbook? all they have to do is pitch and catch, how hard is that
HitStickTaylor21
Let's keep it simple. If we finish in the top 15 in both offensive and defensive categories, we are going to the playoffs.
Cliffmark1
I think a Joe Gibbs team wins on spirit, soul, and belief, not necessarily talent. We'll just have to see if its there or not.
SkinsTillIDie
An offensive line that gives up the third lowest sacks in the league? check An offensive line that is top 4 in rushing? check A wide receiver who is one of the fastest in the league and one of the best big play threats in the league? check A tight end who is one of the best blocking AND receiving threats in the league? check A wide receiver who is arguably the league's best gadget guy? check A running back that is proven in this league and can carry a team on his back, with the potential to take any given carry to the house? check A backup running back who is more than capable in filling in as a starter? check A fullback who absolutely punishes opposing defenders in the run game? check A quarterback with all of the physical ability, potential, desire, and work ethic to succeed in this league? check An offensive coordinator who has created many of the league's most high-powered offenses in the past decade? check I'd say we have more than enough weapons to have a breakout offense this year
