CGSKINS
Why do we continually bash our players?? Brunell ok..but CP..Get a grip. If you made millions would you want to get hurt in preseason when it happened just last year?? Do you think he doesn't want to play football. Do you think he has so much clout he practices when he wants? these games dont matter and when the season comes everyone will eat crow. He has the potential to be a 2,000 yard back when healthy for 16 games. I dont know what year it was it it was 2005 or the year before. When he got hurt and didn't play a couple games and set out a like a half in one. He could have came close to 2,000 that year..Does anyone recall that? Might have been the year we went to the play-offs.. :2cents: Look at my above post.

C26 Run
Of course, that's what made John Riggins so successful as a Redskins RB -- he was so careful about what he ate and drank! :applause: Exactly we all know the legacy of Riggins. The former Jet and Redskin is well known for his "habits". If Ports' body is breaking down that's from setting all those records for rushing he set. Portis isn't the only player with bad eating habits. I hope Clayton isn't naive enough to think so. I like Clayton and he's a really sharp mind when it comes to football. But in this case, Clayton brought up something very petty and small. As long as Portis runs downhill, his comments won't mean anything. :helmet:
cpneedrm
Some of you guys are absolutely ridiculous you know. The guy is one year removed from setting a franchise record in rushing yards which arguably had he not had TWO (2) freak injuries he may just have beat again last year. All of the sudden you throw him under the bus because he "supposedly" eats alot of McDonalds food? I've got a question for you skindogger47, you ask why would Clayton lie about Portis' eating habits? How in the hell would Clayton know what Clinton was eating all the time? Becasue him and 26 are such good buddies right? You say Chad Johnson has the body type to do whatever he wants? Are you some sort of nutrition or human anatomy guru? Last i checked in workout photos Clinton looks as cut as he's always been. Fact is, if Clinton plays the whole year - which he's done for the majority of his career he will have numbers to shut everybody up, including some of our own pessimistic fans. This truly is a what have you done for me lately league, it shows everyday especially with completely idiotic, stupid and uninsightful comments like Clayton's McDonalds story. You're on point with that statement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kevin101
I was watching this show on ESPN, Chad Johnson said he eats McDonalds 3 times a day.
NavyDave
Portis eating MC'Donalds is not good to hear, when there are Rally's, Checkers, Wendy's and Burger King with better burgers, fries and shakes.
NavyDave
I don't blame Portis one bit for being gun shy after that shoulder injury last year and being determined to contribute when it counts, the regular and postseason. Then we have nitpickers, haters b1tchin when he would get a little fatigued request Betts come in to spell him and keep the running game on a consistent level and this was going on before his injury but it was viewed negatively by the media who couldn't see a one two punch at running back. Ladanian, Jackson and to an extent portis workout hard thruout the week and just dont play in the preseason to reduce to the minimum amount of chances for the franchise running back of being nicked. A healthy portis and his big mac cravings in this offense with Jason under center will give us a potent attack.
jabronijames
sorry it wasnt smith... ill try and remember who the interview was with Wasn't that Marvin Harrison? He said he only ate McDonalds and candy bars or something like that. On another note, I think Clayton missed the point. Portis' body isn't breaking down...not yet at least. I think Portis found a way to keep himself injured through the preseason so he doesn't have to play a down and risk really hurting himself. Portis is no dummy. He remembers the hammering he took last year when he threw it all out on the line to lay a hit on someone. He's not going to make that mistake twice. Smoot Point Really
Maybe John "Eat Mor Chikin" Clayton feels threatened because I've heard people say he has the body of a cheeseburger.
cphil006
everyone's different. Portis has a fast metabolism and naturally has muscle. He doesn't need to work as hard as some people to get the same results. If he did work harder maybe he would be better, but you could say that about anyone. grateful44
Good observation I guess, but what's with the low blow on the McDonald's comment? I enjoy Clayton;s insight, but not when he's knocking CP.

HitStickTaylor21
haha John Clayton is a runt and looks like Mr. Burns from the Simpsons and he has the audacity to clown on Portis for having "the body of a 29-year-old" that makes me laugh

BKSkinsFan
Honestly, I'd much rather have people saying these things rather than talking him up saying he's going to have a record setting year. This way when he is tearing it up, people will have to look foolish and flip flop their opinion. I think Portis has the best field vision of any running back on our roster. I've noticed the cut back lanes have seemed wide open quite a few times this preseason, but not 1 RB has recognized it. Portis can turn those plays where the defense stuffs the running lane into huge gains just like he did on his first carry as a Skin. His blocking is also badly needed as I've seen Betts once again miss on picking up the blitz.

DieselPwr44
"Little chocolate doughnuts have been on my training table for years." (props to anybody who gets that reference)Clayton is usually spot on with his comments and I love his battles with Salisbury Steak but in this case I hope he is off the mark.
