Why was the game called????

Of course the people who seem to think I should get over it aren't season ticket holders and it's obvious.
What's obvious is that no one here can do anything for you. How about you contact your season ticket rep and ask what they can do to for you as a season ticket holder. Then maybe you can post the results so others can do the same.

Or you can keep ****ing calling people lemmings because they don't care if you missed a quarter of pre-season due to a lightning storm. People that probably leave pre-season games early all the time. People that may be season ticket holders who just give their pre-season tickets away. (like Skins n' Bones' friend for example) Or maybe you think you're the only person in the stadium who paid for their tickets or that you're the only season ticket holder that has gripes about pre-season games.

I think season ticket holders should have their invoice credited for around1/3 the ticket price.

That storm did not last too long and they could've finished the game. I took my daughter to her first game, but I can't say either of us are too upset about it.

It would be a stand up move if they could swing that.

:applause: See? Thinking can be fun.

>> Most of the baseball games I have been to say that if they don't play 5 innings ( 4 1/2 if the home team is ahead), your ticket is good to another game.

I don't think Danny is going to do that, but giving say a 20% credit on face value to the Redskins store for a Ravens game ticket would be good customer service. :2cents:

Since when does Snyder care about good customer service? Honestly I really don't know of anything he's done since he bought the team that could be considered good customer service or a goodwill gesture to the fans. If he has, the negative stuff far outweigh it. I'm not talking about trying to build a winner. That should be the goal of every team. I'm talking about the gameday experience at FedEx.

Dave,

I feel you pain I really do, but life's to short. Your right, it sucks paying full price for pre-season tickets. Thats how it's done in the NFL of today. You want to participate as a season ticket holder thats the cost. It's upfront and everyone knows it.

The conditions last night were very dangerous and it was handled well. While I understand what your saying, I go back to the beginning of my post. Life is to short to get all worked up over a few hundred dollars. I am just thankful I am in the position financially and geographicly to get to purchase and use season tickets.

The tickets are in my opinion well worth it for the amount of fun I have going to the games. I make it a whole day event. I get to see old friends and have a day long cookout. Then see the skins play. To me it just does not get much better than that.

I'm a season ticket holder and I agree with Skinsfan...get over it.

If you thought the game was meaningless don't go. Sell your tickets. Give them to charity. But don't be a Debbie Downer.

>> Here's a similar situation involving a UVA Basketball game that was halted early 2nd half due to conditions and involved the safety of the players.

I was at this game and we got our money back in FULL.

I believe when the scrimmage was called off a few years ago, people got free passes to training camp (this was the year they were charging for training camp and the scrimmage).

BTW, I looked on the back of my season ticket and there's a lot of fine print, but nothing about a game being called off during play...not sure if there is any recent NFL precedent on this, though I know there was a preseason game (Eagles?) that was called off due to a problem with the field...I would imagine those people got their money back, but I have no confirmation to this.

I would not be surprised if we see a lawsuit out of this (remember the lawsuit to allow fans to walk to the stadium?).

BTW, I was not there. The guy I share my tickets with had our pair for this one and I am not sure about the other pair.

If you want a refund, I would hold onto your ticket stub and hope something happens. :2cents:

Uh, actually, my beef is all about season tickets so I can and will b!tch about getting ripped off. People who buy their tickets week to week aren't charged full price for two exhibition games. Wow, there was one whole season ticket holder who doesn't mind getting hosed? Because the rest have been from Va Beach, Richmond, Park City or are 14.

What act? I was already tired of having to pay $109 per seat for meaningless games and then they have the audacity to cut one of them short. If I paid $10 to see a movie and the power went out, I would expect a refund or passes to another show. Is this really an unreasonable argument? I think not.

Hmmm, I get a season ticket, and you know what? I'm not getting hosed or ripped off. It's all about supply and demand. I pay for 10 games, just like everybody else. I pay when they do well, when they do not-so-great and when they are 8-8. Pay when it's 100 degrees, and pay when it's sleeting (see above post!). And you know what, I don't whine and bemoan the fact. I'm grateful every year that I have the opportunity to be a part of the Redskins experience in person. Gotta agree with HOF here, it just doesn't get any better than a Redskins Sunday. It's worth every penny to me.

It hasn't rained on gameday since Dan Snyder purchased the team. Maybe a little mist, but nothing more than that.

>> Really?? The few of us who stayed to watch Stephen Davis break the season season rushing record and Marty win his final game to finish 8-8 will strongly beg to differ with you on that point. The Washington Times said that everybody who stayed to the end of that game were true Redskins fans and deserved free season tickets for life. I put a copy of that in with my ticket invoice the following year asking if I could get upgraded.....(and I got nothing).

I have forgotten about that one, but I only became a season ticket holder in 2004. I did however read this misstated fact on either es or the paper and of course this is wrong. I do however remember that day. Thank you for pointing this out.

BTW, I never leave before the end and did wait to see if the game would be cancelled last night as well.

The responses to my original post were the typical "no one is forcing you to buy tickets" b.s. and by folks who don't even buy tickets. Do any season ticket holders even post here or is everyone from other states and towns?

I do come here to ***** about Snyder since I figure his employees will pass along the info. It worked for the port-a-jons didn't it?

I am a season ticket holder and have been since 2004 after waiting 12 years on the waiting list.

I had an awesome time last night, rain or shine. I'm not asking for money back and I'm not saying it wouldn't be a nice gesture, and I certainly wouldn't turn it away. But by no means am I asking for money back when I enjoyed myself. This was more interesting than a preseason game from last season that went the entirety.

We had some great conversations and laughs with the people next to me and while was waiting out the delay in the covered concourses.

Was there...wheww that storm was wicked! I was in sec 130, row 1 one row behind the dream seats. Was still fun even delayed and cut short. Hopefully the idiot that drove over the sidewalk and crushed the bushes in a truck wasn't one of our ES'ers. Almost hit some people too..a-hole.

That's a ridiculous argument. I prefer to call b.s. since I've been paying for tickets for 20 years and am a little tired of paying full price for games that don't even count and now don't even finish.

After reading all your rantings here I must say you value your money more then your life. It would have been better to not cancel the game and then have the lightning hit you - if you were sitting outside - you would have been dead. Hmmmm well at least you would have enjoyed the game to your last breath and wouldn't have to worry about high priced tickets anymore.

Wake up dude!!! You are not going to take your money with you when you die anyway. Enjoy whatever you can that God has given you. You are more fortunate then other to have season tickets. It is better to have a pissed off fan then people/players getting killed because of lightning.

What a shame that you care about a few dollars. And by the way I don't sit at my parents house and watch the game. So stop treating everyone here like they live with their parents or something and that you are the only adult here. You my friend are the only child here crying about money instead of safety and well being of others  .

The severe lightning was due to Snyder trying out his new weather control device he bought for a cool $1 billion.

As for canceling the game it was due to LIGHTENING, not the rain or wind. If it only rained the game would have gone on, but as with every kind of sporting event (outdoors) Lightening will delay or in this case cancel the game for the saftey of everyone.

Maybe we'll all get 20% off of Trung Canidate jerseys. That sounds about like a Danny discount.

Do you honestly think any owner would do what you want?

I'll answer for you...doubt it. In fact that night while I watched some pointless game on TV at the bar, a Pats fan and I were talking about it since we saw the skins game was delayed. He told me that Pats fans pay full price for theie pre-season tix as well, and there are no refunds. So I guess instead of singling out Mr. Snyder you better look around the league and see it's the way it is. You don't like it, then don't pay it simple as that.

I have season tickets. Preseason games are part of the deal. I have don't have a problem with the price. Very simple...either I pay the price and have

tickets or don't and have no tickets.

Tickets for Steelers game went to my stepson. It was his birthday. He

appreciated the tickets. Him and a buddy went to the game.

Gave the Ravens tickets to some friends that never have been. They

appreciated the chance to go. I couldn't go because my son had a

scrimmage Saturday afternoon.

I appreciate the fine job Mr. Snyder has done. Great venue to watch

my beloved team...regardless preseason or regular season. I'll pay the

price because I want to see them. If can't go will give someone else

the chance.

As for calling the game, it was the right thing to do. You risk injury to

players from going in and out that much.

No, I was hoping other season ticket holders would agree. I guess none post here.

What am I supposed to call him? His name is Danny. I surprised but not shocked people are defending season ticket holders getting ripped off. Especially when those doing the defending watch the games from their parent's couch.

My family have been season ticket holders since 69. I went to my first game in 88 (still carry the ticket in my wallet, it's nice seeing the Lombardi Trophy on a skins ticket) and I've gone to most every game since then including pre-season. You have to realize that it's pre-season, as in Before the season. Like practice. I had a good time seeing a bunch of people in my section again, I don't agree with you that we should get a refund, because I pay for the right to go to every game next year, the waiting list is long, if you don't want to go anymore give up your seats to some real fans please.

While I agree with most of you comments I have to disagree here. The fact that for years Mr. Snyder has said the analog system needs upgrades before we can get replays but years have gone by and still no upgrades while in the same vein the price for something (parking/beer/tickets) goes up every year means that he actually cares very little for the fan experience. We have lost many good fans because of this and the stadium is becoming more and more filled with the fair weather fans who in the final weeks of the season last year were actually requesting that people sit down on kickoffs. Like I said up there this is my 19th year of going to games and I don't ever recall sitting down for a kickoff.

It doesn't take much to please the fans, and it really takes little to no imagination to come up with new ideas from year to year, they actually go out of their way to not try when it comes to fan experience anymore.

I'm not a real fan now? Typical. Over the cliff with you......

If you are ****ing about a refund for a pre-season game that was called for saftey reasons, then yes that is exactly what I am calling you. If we go 5-11 again this year I guess I can meet you at the Redskins Store about halftime of the Bears or Cowboys games? My guess is no you'll be at home trying to get a refund because the "product" didn't live up to your expectations.

Yeah since we haven't had any bad seasons in the 20 years I've been paying for season tickets have we? Go pull that on someone who stops going. I still do but I have certain expectations. I guess you don't.
