Fergasun
Link to Article is Here At least 25 of the 200 or so "Opus" client newspapers might not run the Sunday-only comic's next two episodes, which feature Islamic references and a sex joke. ... "Whenever something lands close to the edge, we give editors enough notice" in case they want to run substitute comics, said Shearer. Berkeley Breathed's Aug. 26 and Sept. 2 strips -- which comprise sort of a two-part series -- show the Lola Granola character wanting to become an Islamic radicalist (and wear traditional Muslim clothing) because it's a "hot new fad on the planet." Content also includes what Shearer described as "a sex joke a little stronger than we normally see."I'm not going to disappoint, here is the first banned comic. I think its pretty funny... stevenaa
It's a shame a group can influence what a newspaper is willing to print, comic or not.
81artmonk
Why are we so afraid of these people?? We won't racially profile them at airports or anywhere else, when it hasn't been catholic nuns doing the terrorist work. We won't print comics, but christians and catholics and any other religion is ok. Honestly, if they are that uptight that they can't take a joke like anyone else does, than something is wrong. Destino
We are never going to win the war of ideas if we keep making them look like they are right. The western world is bending over to care to Muslim feelings and demanding no such thing in return. If you were in a nation either not involved or opposing the US what would you think when you see things like this? The powerful nations apologizing for cartoons, the opposing nations proudly printing insults....

Predicto
It's a shame a group can influence what a newspaper is willing to print, comic or not. It has always been that way. Newspapers avoid controversy on their comic pages. This has nothing to do with excessive sensitivity to Islam, but rather excessive caution about everything. I don't think anyone would care if it focused on Amish people like the joke at the begnning of the comic. Pretend it carried with making fun of the Amish. 20 bucks says it gets printed. Right now it is Muslims, but in the past it was other things. Comic page censorship has a long and well-documented history. And yeah, I read it. It was funny.
