Which Skins should sit or come out early tonight

Obviously more than ever, just getting out of these preseason games healthy is the primary goal. Can we all agree on that?

With that said some players need some work more than others. Here is what I would suggest to Gibbs, if I hd his phone number:

Play the defensive starters 2 series, and no more. I would have them out before the end of the first quarter. I don't care if the Ravens score twice or go 3 and out twice I would get them out quickly.....because its the defense which must carry this team early in the season.

As far as offense:

Collins first half (obvious why)

Brunell 3rd quarter

Palmer (4th quarter)

Portis(rest)

Raybach(Rest

Randy Thomas( Rest)

Samuels(continue rest)

Moss(rest his hamstring)

Cooley(rest)

I would rest those 3 starters above on the offensive line and not risk them to injury. Jansen obviously needs the work and Kendall is not ready yet.

Moss and Cooley Portis are proven and I would not risk injury to them since they ARE the offense. I would start ARE and Lloyd and put some pressure on them to do something. In the 2nd half give Bradford and Pinkston a bunch of work with Brunell.

If any of the above players are injured this week everybody would be second guessing the Skins so I say SIT THEM. (but thats just me)

I'd play our starting DEF the 1st half. ST and LL still need to work of chemistry, LF still needs to know where his fellow LBers are going to be, and our DL has stopped the run good but still needs to work on getting pressure.

I agree with resting Moss, Cooley, Portis, Samuels, Rabach, and Thomas, but i expect them (except Portis and Samuels) to play at least the 1st half

Yea I feel Gibbs will play most of the players above, I am just saying that I would rest them if I were coach. Even one injury would not be worth the little bit of playing time they will get in a meaningless game, and we have already seen how the team is affect when the offensive line is decimated. SIT Samuels, Thomas, and Rayback. ESPECIALLY Raybach since he has a long season and nobody can really replace him.

The O-Line has to get some time together-1st quarter- to work on run blocking. Second quarter - put in TW @ tackle and MP @ center to work on their prime B/U positions. Play Betts through the 1st quarter then pull him for a platoon of the other backs. It would be nice to win the game but who really cares as long as the guys get some good work in without injury. If they could field the whole starting offense including Campbell,Portis,Samuels and Kendall I'd like for the starters to play 2 or 3 quarters but since they can't - See above.

This is the game where starters will play the most. I dont really see us "resting" anyone except for guys with injuries: Portis, Campbell, Samuels, Washington. I will be looking to see if Griffin is in there, as I dont think he has played yet as a pre-cautionary measure. But if he were to play at all this preseason, this would be the game to do it I'd think.

We will rest a lot more starters in the 4th game, so as not to get anyone hurt with only a week to recuperate.

The Skins seem injury prone. Maybe its their training methods, which they have been criticized for in both the media and by players. The Skins don't need to play guys a whole half just because the media says thats what you do. Just because the media says THIS 3rd week is the one that resembles the regular season. NOTHING resembles the regular season except the regular season and you want your starters HEALTHY.

I stick by my original thread post.

Just like last week.....Betts is probably the first starter taken off the field, and for good reason.

2 weeks before the season starts....and Portis still can't even practice.

The writing is all over the wall.

If Betts is the starter from the get go, we can't risk him suffering an injury.

this isnt any ordinary preseason third game....its against baltimore. I will cringe at every tackle they make in the first half. They play somewhat dirty, the games are obviously more important to them, i'd rather let them win it than risk someone like cooley or betts being the new will demps

Yeah, I woudn't mind them at least pulling the offensive starters early.

With Campbell not playing, the passing game is not a big concern to me tonight. I'd like to see them focus on running the ball tonight. Whether they score points or not, the work wouldn't hurt.:)

The defense has looked real good. This is really the only part of the game tonight that interest me. The Ravens will probably gameplan more tonight then they did in other preseason games (most teams usually do in the 3rd game).

I'd like to see how the defense looks.

OK. This is football. Every game counts & the skins need to be ready for the regular season. 1st team beat 1st team last week, but there are definately issues with o-line protection & lack of the run. They need to play 1st team offense at least the 1st half.
