AmeriplanDentalMan
The Falcons season is already over. If they start thinking about next season and beyond they will need a franchise QB. How about we send our #1 pick and possibly a future pick and they send us John Abraham. We could use a pass rusher that will be effective for 2 or 3 more years and they certainly are going to need draft picks to position themselves to take the best QB in the draft. Now that Vick's salary will be a non factor, they can take the cap hit when they trade Abraham. The Redskins have no pass rushers currently and cannot get to the QB without blitzing. This trade would allow Gibbs to strengthen a weakness on his team and give the Falcons hope for the future.
Die Hard
Or they can just draft the best QB in the draft class with their top 3 overall pick.

BLEED-B&G
Why don't we use our #1 pick and select a DE in the draft??? How many high priced players can one team have? We all admire teams who build through the draft like Patriots yet some of us still want to make bonehead moves. To me this move doesn't make sense anyway....Atlanta will most likely have a fairly high draft pick next year anyway that they can use to select their next "franchise" QB. Keep our picks.... funguy1286
Or we can use our first rounder for a DE next year?Make sense when you propose trades. Id rather do something like Brunell and a 3rd and 7th round pick for Abraham. Not sure if they'd go for it but I'd definitely do if it we had the oppurtunity. I'm usually one of the biggest supporters of keeping draft picks because I feel free agents and trades are sometimes more risky then the draft because schemes of certain teams can mask a players deficencies. However, with Abraham we would know what we are getting and all we would have to do is tell him to go get the QB.
Chump Bailey
A number one and a future pick for a guy that missed half the season - not worth it. John's a good to very good DE when healthy, but he's not worth all of that at this point in his career. He's just too injury prone. I would be for looking at Simeon Rice however... How does that help Joe Gibbs when he wants to retire next season? He wants to make the playoffs and go to the Superbowl NOW. So...how does drafting a ROOKIE who won't start in 2008, and won't start until 2009, how does that help the Redskins THIS year? I don't understand your logic. Why didn't you suggest we trade a can of pickles and an 8th round draft pick for Abraham since you already acknowledge that they wouldn't go for your deal. Its rediculous to suggest they will let go of a potential all pro for a 3rd round pick or a 7th round pick. What I suggested is a REAL trade not a fantasy trade. You act like its a take it or leave it situation...when the Redskins have absolutely ZERO pass rush. Let me repeat that. The Redskins have ZERO pass rush without blitzing NOBDY can get to the QB. Abraham would give us a serious threat and you don't get something unless you give up something. a 3rd round pick???? You are rediculous.

Why have this turned into another BRUNELL thread. I started a real thread, a new topic, about a definite need on our Redskins and suddenly the Brunell haters have entered my thread and won't stop with the out-with-Brunell stuff. Why not take every one of thee Brunell posts and stick them where they belong....in the "Brunell to Atlanta" thread and send these guys a message that they should not clutter up EVERY thread with the word BRUNELL. Fan since a Fetus
I would not trade a first round pick for Abraham and I would definitely not throw in an extra pick. No way! Out of 7 seasons he has only completed three of them. He only played in six games last year. The man cannot stay healthy. Now when he does stay healthy, he is one of the best. Why throw away a first rounder and an additional pick? Why would Atlanta want to get rid of him? If he was healthy and actually completed more than three seasons, then I would think about it. There is also the issue with his heart. How bad does he want a ring? I don't think he wants it too bad. I remember a couple of years ago he was sitting on the sideline during the Jets playoff game. He wasn't that injured, he could have played, but he did not want to risk injury because he wanted a big payday. That does not sound like someone I want on my team. freestyln
funny how everyone was rooting for Gaines Adam, but rumor is, he's not doing so well in tampa.. http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/The+Way+We+Hear+It/Whispers/2007/whispers2208.htm We hear the Buccaneers are down on rookie DE Gaines Adams’ technique. Defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin has been spotted spending one-on-one time with Adams after practice to rectify the problem. But Adams’ struggles make the release of perennial Pro Bowl DE Simeon Rice even more perplexing. Choose wisely in the draft or a proven DE that'll be available next year as a UFA. *cough*Jared Allen*cough
