stwasm
Yours truly and about 60,000 of my closest friends at FedEx Field had heart attacks upon witnessing Jason Campbell rolling around on the field, holding his knee in obvious pain. Given that, and the state of our offensive line, I'm all for having JC sit out the rest of the pre-season. He can have his reps in practice. But, Saturday night reminded us all of how much we miss Chris Samuels. We know what he can do and he's had a solid pre-season. Let that "bruise" heal properly, let Collins and Brunell battle it out for the #2 spot, and let's not take any more chances with our franchise quarterback. Monkart
No one likes to see anyone get hurt, but I totally disagree with not playing him. JC needs all the reps against other teams he can get, yes it was scary, but that's football. he wanted to go back in that game, so that tells you he's not afraid, so you shouldn't be either. bryceb07
Jason should sit this weekend against the ravens ... That defense is wayy to scary ! Hoever next week he should be at practice in rythem with the recievers and play the last pre - season game ... He is just bruised , we are very fortunate ... However he needs all the reps he can get! I do not think that Jason will be able to play in the next preseason anyhow, but he needs to get some repetition in the last one. There is no way in the world that you can expect him to be ready come the opener after sitting him for two straight presason games. Call it what you will, but the man would be rustier than ancient platonium! :helmet:
ThePreciating
I see both sides to the argument. Campbell needs the work - he still looks very unpolished out there, albeit much more comfortable. However, with Samuels and Portis out, our pass blocking has turned pretty abysmal. At some point, the risk of injury outweighs the benefit of experience. If Bugel and Gibbs don't think the line will be ready to properly protect Campbell, then Campbell doesn't need to be out there. Not to mention the fact that defenses will be trying to nail JC since he separates from the ball so easily.
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
he needs to play, anytime a single player of ours hits the field, its a risk. he needs the work. either you risk injury now and give him the good prep (especially against a great defense) or you sit him and have him come into week 1 with little experience when he needs it the most. DaveP666
Let him have the first 2-3 drives against good D's and then i agree, let brunell and collins battle it out. I dont like/prefer either anymore, but collins has looked a little smoother. Unless, of course, you watch the last 3 minutes of that Dallas 14-13 win on Monday night hahahaha. Brunell rocked then, didnt he!!!
TLusby
We can't sit everyone. He needs the experience. Portis will have rust, as well as Chris and others. Jason needs to be sharp and he was looking sharp up to the injury.
Koolblue13
When you get a chance to see what you have against one of the premier defenses in the league and it doesn't count, you take the experence. Jason needs this game. Other defenses will seem tame after this. I would say, make the game plan a little safer, worry about protections and check downs a little more. Maybe even let him just rip the ball down field to see if he can sneak it into some tougher situations and let guys maake some plays.
Abshir
There is a possibility of getting hurt in any game whether its preseason or regular season. Its part of playing the sport of football. I think if JC is ok he should get back out there and lead our team to victory. He needs all the reps he can get.
BAFGA
I agree with most here in that Campbell should at least play the final preseason game. Hopefully he can play the first half. He should sit against Baltimore, however, just to rest the knee. It kinda sucks to have this injury happen, because if anyone needed work on this team it's Campbell. He needed to work with the 1st team in gametime situation.
SprintBomb
i think they should give him playing time in the final game. maybe just the first quarter. no more than that.
AmeriplanDentalMan
QB's don't get better by watching from the bench and Jason clearly needs to get better. He should at least play one series or one drive this weekend if at all possible
McMetal
I would have no problem with him not playing again. The risk factor for injury this offseason is just off the charts. I would prefer a rusty JC in Week 1 than none at all. He definitely needs to sit against Baltimore. Pucillo/Wade/Heyer could get him killed. skinsfanno9
The guy needs his reps. Even though its scary, I think we have to play Campbell. Either that or we risk our regular season games looking like preseason games. Bottom line, our offensive passing attack was not so "boom-cha" last year that we can bypass the practice games. We NEED Campbell in there.
Chump Bailey
Yours truly and about 60,000 of my closest friends at FedEx Field had heart attacks upon witnessing Jason Campbell rolling around on the field, holding his knee in obvious pain. Yep. Immediately thought the season was all but over. While I understand your fear, he really does need the work as others have stated. Hopefully he'll be 90-100% for the Jags game. ldysknzfn1
I can understand everyone's want to not see our starter hurt in preseason, but I think he has to get some reps against other teams. I think whether he goes this weekend or not will mainly be up to him. If he feels up to it...then maybe put him in for a few plays...nothing fancy schmancy..just the meat & potatoes stuff. Then pull him out. I don't want to see him hurt either...but I do want him ready in week 1. You can't sit a guy b/c you're afraid he'll get hurt...he can get hurt at anytime..practice included. Let him get back on that horse if he's up to it. Just don't leave him in there as long. Get that O-line in ship shape this week. Work on stopping the rush as best you can. :2cents:
Tulane Skins Fan
I said it in the other thread which is about THE EXACT SAME THING, but here goes again: Yea we should sit them. We should also sit our starters for the Jax game because they are a "hard-hitting" defense too. Actually, Miami is hard hitting too, so we should sit our starters for that game. Philly blitzes a lot, so we should sit them for that game too. After looking at the schedule, actually, I think we should sit our starters until the Lions game. grow some balls people... its football.
dinothekid
He is not a piece of glass. The guy needs to play or he won't be ready for week 1. Injury is always a risk but we can't sit him, he won't be ready....

SkinsFTW
Not to mention the fact that defenses will be trying to nail JC since he separates from the ball so easily. Huh? He fumbled one time last year. Brunell fumbles close to once a game on average.
TheLongshot
If Campbell is completely healthy, he should play. If not, he shouldn't. It is as simple as that. Coaches aren't all that comfortable about players risking their health either. But, they also know that the players need the work to get ready for the season. Henry
If Campbell were a vet playing in an established system I'd sit him in a second. But he's a young guy who needs to get as familiar with the system and his teammates as much as he can as fast as he can. If he can play he should play. cphil006
yea, if we sit him. He'll be healthy... and NOT effective. He needs work. This is foolish to sit him. He is not tom brady. He needs work.
