Burgold
I'm trying to think of a great upbeat song that is about a train, locomotive. I know there are a ton of them, but Locomotion and Morning Train isn't what I'm thinking of. Anyone know any good songs about riding the rails or trains? Dan T.
Asleep At the Wheel does a great version of Chattanooga Choo-Choo. Go here, http://www.amazon.com/Western-Standard-Time-Asleep-Wheel/dp/B0000026JI ,click Music Samples for a snippet. The familiar voice you'll hear is Willie Nelson, who sits in. But you still get lots of lead singer Ray Benson, who has got one of the most melodic voices in music.

Koolblue13
Lonesome train by the Jonny Brunette Trio Mystery Train by Little Junior and his Blue Flames or the version Elvis did was good, he turned it into a possitive song. Both fantastic.

rincewind
Locomotive Breath - Jethro Tull Casey Jones - Grateful Dead I could started naming the thousands of bluegrass/folk songs about trains if you'd like (granted half of them have to do with John Henry). Burgold
John Henry's a steel driving man, but he's more downbeat... at least his story is. Then again, he did beat that machine Blues/Folk are cool too.

RonJeremy
Train Kept A Rollin' - Aerosmith Beat me to it. Aerosmith - Train Kept A Rollin lyrics Well, on a train, I met a dame, She rather handsome, we kind looked the same She was pretty, from New York City I'm walkin' down that old fair lane, I'm in heat, I'm in love, But I just couldn't tell her so I said, train kept a-rollin' all night long Train kept a-rollin' all night long Train kept a-rollin' all night long Train kept a-rollin' all night long With a "heave!", and a "ho!" But I just couldn't tell her so, no, no, no Well, get along, sweet little woman get along On your way, get along, sweet little woman get along On your way, I'm in heat, I'm in love, But I just couldn't tell her so, no, no, no Well, on a train, I met a dame, She rather handsome, we kind looked the same She was pretty, from New York City I'm walkin' down that old fair lane, I'm in heat, I'm in love, But I just couldn't tell her so I said, train kept a-rollin' all night long Train kept a-rollin' all night long Train kept a-rollin' all night long Train kept a-rollin' all night long With a "heave!", and a "ho!" But I just couldn't tell her so, no, no, no Well, get along, sweet little woman get along On your way, get along, sweet little woman get along On your way, I'm in heat, I'm in love, But I just couldn't tell her Well, we made a stop in Albequerque She must'a thought I was a real cool jerk Got off the train, and put her hands up Lookin' so good I couldn't let her go But I just couldn't tell her so I said, train kept a-rollin' all night long Train kept a-rollin' all night long Train kept a-rollin' all night long Train kept a-rollin' all night long I'm in heat, I'm in love, But I just couldn't tell her

DeanCollins
Burg, this is the perfect song, especially in DC because the metro area is Little Feats second home. And this one is a classic, It's got a real slinky mellow beat that's perfect for an intro and backround music You can hear it here http://www.archive.org/details/lf1973-03-20.flacf Two Trains In 1966 I found my love In 1967 I had all there was And as my time went by I was satisfied Until that situation took me by surprise Now there's two trains runnin' - on that line One train's me, and the other's a friend of mine You know it would be all right, be just fine If the woman took one train, and left the other behind Illusion it is just the same conclusion I don't know how to play the game Of what it is or how it's going to be When one train is my friend and the other train is me Easy, I say easy, I can't push or shove her So I guess I really care Now I'm not one to hide my love behind a lock and key But if things keep going the way they are there's no place left for me There's two trains runnin' - on that line One train's me, and the other's a friend of mine You know it would be all right, be just fine If the woman took one train, and left the other behind

I actually saw a band that called them self Blackfoot perform that as recently as last year. There's only one original member left from the original group. Most of them have passed on.
