greenmile
I'm sick of hearing that Brunell should be behind Palmer on the depth chart. Are you people out of your minds. I love how people hate on Mark. It's like people say that Gibbs is a wash up, really. I mean, do people forget that WE WON A PLAYOFF GAME TWO YEARS AGO. Do people forget that Mark Brunell SHOULD HAVE MADE THE PROBOWL two years ago? Mark's problems have always been a generally inept offensive system. I'm not saying he's the best quarterback, but I think he should be our #1 backup behind Jason. He's got experience, and when he's in a "clicking" offense, he's our best bet. People need to stop hating on him. Oh, and I've been saying this since last year... why do people hate on Lloyd so much? This guy makes spectacular catches! How can you blame a guy for getting no catches when you NEVER THROW HIM THE BALL. We simply had too many guys to throw to last year... Moss, Randle El, Lloyd, Cooley, Portis, Thrash, etc. It was hard to spread the ball around. And worse, our offense was again pretty bad last year. Randle El didn't do much better. You have to give a guy a change to shine by throwing him the ball more. People need to back off this guy's case. But now, I'll tell you a player that NEEDS to have their but kicked in gear: Portis. He needs to get his ass back in practice ASAP. I don't care if his knee is a "little banged up". If I'm Gibbs, Portis isn't playing a lick until he gets in practice and starts earning it. He needs to be conditioned. He thinks he's special and can get out of training camp easy. If I'm another Redskin out there sweating my ass off everyday, I gotta be pretty pissed at Portis. You know he could practice if he wanted to... he's just doesn't. Well, I don't see how he can start Game1 if he hasn't played a lick in the past month. herrmag
Well, this thread is all over the place. Some people have had a personal vendetta against Brunell ever since he and Gibbs decided to "conspire" against Ramsey. Don't you know that? Gibbs and Brunell ruined Ramsey's career. If he hadn't played in Washington, he'd have been the next Peyton Manning. That being said, Brunell may be a serviceable backup, but if Collins can prove to play as competently as he did last night for the next 2 preseason games, I'd say Brunell definitely drops to 3. No chance he drops to practice squad.
arkowi
I mean, do people forget that WE WON A PLAYOFF GAME TWO YEARS AGO. Man, I think the guy gets a hard rap as well, but don't talk about that playoff game. The dude was 7 for 15 for 41 yards in that game.
praise_gibbs
Good luck dude. These people will ***** until Brunell falls off the face of the earth or dies. You'd think Brunell was the reason for the WTC tragedy. Or that he may have kicked their puppy. Stabbed their cat. Raped their sister. They HATE the man. Kinda sad, actually. jnhay
No chance he drops to practice squad. Because it isn't possible. I've been a Brunell supporter all along, but his job does look to be in jeopardy at the moment. I don't think it's because of poor Brunell performance but rather good Collins performance. cozmikbuffalo
I'm respectfully disagree my friend. Brunell should go and so should his high price that hand cuffs this team. In the last two preseason games his passes are always high as they were today with the exception of the one over the middle , that was very nice. How many games has he lost this team with late interceptions because the pass was high or behind a reciever? Too many. I have always and will always respect Brunell as a quarterback , just not as the Redskin quarterback. It was a mistake to bring him here and we let Casey Bramlet go , that was a mistake. It should have been Mark instead. Coz

SkinsOrlando
I figured the MB hate would calm down after Campbell became the starter, I was wrong, just seems for certain posters MB is the one to blame for all the teams woes and whatever else you want to blame on him. Collins would be a complete disaster if this team had to rely upon him for any stretch of games.

Who should have made it over him? Delhome? Please. Look at the stats buddy... many people, even in the media, acknowledged that Brunell was a strong candidate for #3 quarterback in the '05 probowl. Just wanted to make sure, because it sounded like you thought it was possible that a veteran could go to the practice squad. Brunell dropping behind Palmer is basically Brunell being cut TS. APBT
I don't hate Brunell at all, but after watching many preseason games this month, I see 3rd string rookies making better decisions than the washed up Vet. Throwing into double coverages, burning timeouts at will, throwing passes high for the receiver to get clobbered, throwing ducks down the field and tight ropes out of bounds, makes me wonder of his purpose as an NFL QB? I must admit that I did not see the second half last night (In San Diego, not on TV, online stream pooped out), so I was basing my opinion of his play solely on the reactions of this board (which is probably a HUGE mistake). Perhaps I should waited until I've seen the "disaster" that is Mark Brunell for my own eyes.

nneece
Brunell has wasted the team's potential 2 of the 3 seasons he has been here. He has mostly been an albatross around Gibb's neck, although one that Gibbs brought upon himself. I'd love to give the Redskins Brunell (vs. the Jag's Brunell) the credit he deserves, when he retires. Clearly he no longer has the physical skills to play the game. Has he given all the money back? Seriously, Sonny and company talked about how we were paying him second string money but if he didn't make second string behind Collins the Skins need to cut him or restructure his contract again.
