posse87
He has been progressing well. I know he played tackle in college, but I was wondering if he could be looked at for Guard.

Pedro
He looks like a genuine pass blocker right now and we should keep him in the position he is best suited (at least for now). It's a good thing to have a quality young back up at LT especially when we are needing youth on the OL over the next couple of years. The fact he was an UDFA just goes to show if you give kids a chance they can surprise the heck out of you. EDIT: So in summary no, feet are too slow right now. He needs time to get it down mentally with a position he knows and we should treat him as a bonus rather than a solution for the LG position. Soup
No way I say get him out of here before he allows another defensive player a clean or dirty hit on Jason Campbell. If you see the replay, it was his fault the hit happened.

He isn't the reason why the O-Line stinks. Even Chris Samuel gives up hits...
ucfSKINS
Heyer is progressing well. The second shot Jason took in the Titans game came from a missed block by Cooley, and the RB should have helped out last night. He is a valued player especially with our OL woes. terpfan
I dont think he would be significantly better than Wade or Pucillo anyway. We should leave him at his natural position and see if we can develop him into a starter for us in the future.
Blondie
No hes waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to slow, he wouldnt pull well I think he has a ways to go in his progress at a guard.........BUT I dont see him as being a starter.........and I hope than given time as the season progresses, he will be able to gain speed, agility, and vision to be a better tackle. But, I dont think he is nearly ready to become a guard.

You're wrong about the hit in the Pit game. The back was doing his job picking up the blitz by Polamalu. Heyer set up for the outside rush and Keisel faked outside and bulled inside. Heyer didn't react.

Taking your point to another player.........why did we get the bright idea of converting Wade to LG? He looks a tad too tall to play that position. But give the guy kodos for giving it his best. Was this a purpose ploy by Joe B. in order to keep him with the Skins. He's probably our best backup Tackle.
cphil006
When Samuels gets back, maybe we should look at Heyer for guard.
Siven
No hes waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to slow, he wouldnt pull well Heyer could be better than Dock. We need someone to win the interior struggle and not let opposing dlines collapse the pocket. Dock was good cause he was huge and could ominate his man. Wade looks so skinny and useless. Wade might be good for pulling, but he lets teams collapse the pocket.
Bossman_SKins
put samuels back in at left tackle, mike pucillo at guard (upgrade in the offseason), and move wade to right tackle cuz jansen is stinking it up
Lombardi's_kid_brother
What I am missing with the Heyer fan club? He looks like an undrafted rookie right now. I'm not even convinced he makes the team at this point.

Prior to that unfortunate missed block, Heyer had been doing a pretty decent job with the first team. Not to mention the fact that he is getting great experience.BTW, even probowl OT's miss a block every now and then.
jimster
No, just go get Pete Kendall from the Jets for a 6th or a 7th. I wouldn't mind him here for maybe a year or two if we could actually get him for that, BUT - he's 34 years old, he's making $1.7 mil this year with the Jets and thinks he deserves more. We've seen Wade play one game at a position he's never played before, next to an undrafted player playing in his first ever NFL game. - I'd rather give him a little more of a chance than that. - It's not that He didn't play this weak because of a lack of confidence by the coaches - he had a minor injury so was held out. Peregrine
No. You cant just swap players around randomly at a whim(on the offensive line especialy). Moving him to LG does us no good and leaves us with one left backup at LT. Frankly, im not quite as high on him as some others after seeing a free shot or two hes allowed on Campbell. Hes got a bit more work to do.
LoudMouth12thMan
I thought earlier that he could have moved but he does look pretty slow and stiff. I don't think that would bode well for a guard.
theTruthTeller
Call me crazy, but why not make a deal for a real guard. The regular season is three weeks away and it will take a couple weeks for learning the plays and the blitz pickups. It amazes me that the team will trade multiple picks for a mediocre back with one year left on his contract, solely for insurance purposes, yet leave a starting position on the line with no viable starter and no viable backups. The Skins need an additional player on the line - shifting players to new positions is not going to work. Either trade picks (and I'm against trading picks, but this case is exceptional), or make a trade with a team that needs a cornerback and has a really good backup LG with some years left on his contract. I know a lot of people want to think that everything is okay on the line. Its not. Campell has been hit hard - really hard - three times so far in preseason and he's played left than a half. Run blocking is horrific. Betts has 18 yards in 10 carries so far this preseason. As a team they have 120 yards in 49 attempts, total for the two games.
