Raub
Just thought I'd throw this out there as a public service announcement. I called Direct TV and cancelled my Sunday Ticket earlier this month and made sure they knew I was cancelling because they had raised the rates again this year....to a total of about $275 for the season. I had purchased Sunday Ticket the past 4 or 5 years. Today, Direct TV calls and offers me Sunday Ticket for an $80 discount, and throws in the Superfan package for free. So....I get it all for $189. I jumped on it. I love the package, but was not willing to pay the additional costs they keep adding. They came back and offered it to me at a substantial discount. Maybe some fellow Skins fans can use this as a bargaining position to save a few bucks on Sunday Ticket. :2cents: :point2sky
kwitt
Good job. I balked at paying for the new HD receiver upgrade and got it for free. They always give in.

REEGSKINS
I just hope Direct TV looses the contract with the NFL soon. they have put way too much money into it to lose it now. and they just made all the games available through the internet so i dont think they are ready to share the wealth. TheDarb
I just hope Direct TV looses the contract with the NFL soon. Why? The Sunday Ticket is a bargain. You get every game all season for the cost of 2 people going to one game. What's not to like?

What's not to like? the price would drop if other carriers had it. I don't know where your sitting but the price of the direct ticket can get me one seat for one game and 3 jack and cokes at the humidor or whatever they change the name to this year. Peregrine
Yeah, as much as I want sunday ticket with superfan, its just not worth the ridiculous price they are charging. So either they throw in superfan for free and give a price cut, or its not even worth signing up for anymore.

kleese
I've had Sunday Ticket every year since 1999. This year they are upgrading me to HD for free. Folks, it's a bargain anyway you slice it. Kinda sucks they jack up the price every year, but that happens all over. Sunday Ticket would be worth $500 or more to me per season. Just sayin'

Dictator
I've been considering getting Sunday Ticket this year, is it worth it (Currently a Comcast subscriber)? If you want to watch the skins everyweek guaranteed? Yes. I would never pay $100 for it, but the Superfan pkg is pretty sweet too. Especially if you play fantasy football. You can program your players in using your receiver, and the system updates you when your players score regardless of what channel you are watching. RabidFan
Ok, I have to share what I got out of them one day 2 weeks ago. The day before I called my wife called for us(she's a better ballbuster than me ) and spoke with a female retention dept Rep and got no offers for anything free or discounted and was told that free upgrade swap for existing purchased boxes for new leased MPEG 4 HD DVR boxes is over. So I called the following day hoping for a male voice and got the following: I called and asked for Retention dept( of course) and asked the guy why my NFL Tix price went up as i thought i was grandfathered from day one at my price(knowing i had this exact discussion last year and it due to new deal signed recently with NFL) at $169 which is $60 less than current price they had on my bill. They offered to give me $10 off per month for a year(not 6 months which would make it even). So then I asked if the rate hike was for the Superfan cause its newish and I never got it before and he said "i'll give you that free since you're a loyal customer". So still i have not threatened cancel or ****ed yet and i have gotten Free Superfan($99 dollar value) and $120 in account credits. I then asked if they are still doing the free upgrade program for current boxes to MPEG 4 cause when i upgraded my Dish to 5LNB in Feb and got one free new HD DVR and wanted another they said only one free per 6 months($299 value) and he said "sure its been six months and we are still doing it so i'll send that to you in 2 weeks for free"($299 value). Now they came and installed it and because i now have 4 DVRs and other sets(don't ask but i love me some tvs with four in basement alone(Gym, Kids room, Bar, Theater) and I wanted a 6x16 multiswitch(between $150-$400 value) and DTV doesn't give those for free they rigged to 6x8s together and said if signal loss occurs to call them and their manager will come out next day with a free 6x16 switch. I had loss soon after they left so called the installers cell phone and he said he'd call the manager that night. Next night i was in the theater hooking up my butt kicker amps and 2 dudes show up with brand new 6x16 multiswitch and install it and take off for free. So for two phone calls(one to DTV retention dept even though never ****ed at all or threatened to cancel, and one to installer) i got in 2 weeks: $120 credits on my account, free Superfan($99), free HD DVR($299 minus $20 for delivery and install) and free 6x16 multiswitch($250 avg)....so a total of $750 worth of free equipment and services. Now I do my Kung Fu Action theater hearty belly laugh and will enjoy my NFL season. Some peeps react to kindness and naiveness, some react to ****ing, some don't know their offers or what they can do, some are on the ball. It all depends who you talk to in the phone bank sometimes. Just thought I'd share. Good luck. Hail Skins!!
Dictator
DirecTv knows how to take care of their customers. They could say "we already have our dish on your roof, eff' off." But they don't.

If they change the Sunday ticket DTV would have to charge more because of losing the number of subscribtions. And those discounts, gooooodbye. hail2thegibb
I just hope Direct TV looses the contract with the NFL soon. I just learned this the other day from a Directv rep I met.. He said that the NFL hates the fact that DTV has the NFL ticket but has no choice.. He explained that because DTV owns and operates all the cameras and broadcasting rights for all the stations FOX.... CBS.....etc.. Because of this DTV can do what ever they want with the games and that is why cable companies can't offer the same thing... The NFL replay that is offered with some cable companies but the cable company has to pay DTV.... Messed up... I didn't think it was even possible but after talking with him for awhile I started to believe what he was saying... He seemed to know his stuff... Rupert Murdoch owns Fox and DTV (and a **** load of other stuff). Imagine if the NFL could sell the package to every outlet? Cable and satellite? Wow - I know DTV pays them a ton but probably not as much as they could make. I have had the package for 3 years - worth every penny but have gotten the Superfan free both years by ****ing. They always break.
