bubba9497
Speaking of ESPN, a great note from Ed Werder before the Cowboys-Colts preseason opener -- the first tackle Dallas made in the game would be their first full-contact tackle of the summer, because Wade Phillips hadn't had the team in any full-contact situations yet. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/peter_king/08/12/mmqb/5.html

flashback
After Thursday night, it looks like a brilliant move by Wade. Tackling is a tricky thing, though. Once a team starts to have problems tackling, it can be very difficult to fix.

Amazing in this day and age that full-speed tackling is very rarely practiced in camps around the league. Even in tradition-loving places like Pittsburgh (one practice), Buffalo (two practices) and Chicago (two practices), I saw zero put-'em-on-the-ground tackling drills or full-contact tackling." Interesting that you left out the part that says this is very typical of the entire league. Not to mention, I have serious doubts as to the accuracy of this because I've seen video of camp where they were tackling and many reports from camp have talked about hard hits almost every day. I love it when a quote gets "cherry picked"......nice work! And thats not even true, because Hamlin got hurt making a tackle in camp. Hard to get a head injury when yoiur not tackling. Hamlin and Singleton as well both had head injuries to tackling.....

TonyRomoProBowl
One preseason game...you really want to put that much emphasis on one game? no, but it is funny that he was sacked twice and fumbled twice...if that was Romo sits to pee, there would be a 57 page thread about his small hands...etc..... I agree...that preseason is a complete waste of time....unless it has to do with Spencer being owned and having no stats in his first game....then its time for worry!!!! If we don't hit in practice, then I'm sure Cooley would never had any problem getting up after a non hit.

I've read all the blogs from Dallas' camp and there have been big hits everyday they were in full pads. Hamlin has been out for a week after a collision with Jackie Battle. Burnett was out for a week as well after a hard hit. The point being Bubba cherry picked half a line from a report and got called on it. Then it turns out that every team is running a similar camp including the skins. I think he go very owned in this thread and kind of looks like a fool right about now!!!!!!!!! Club Wade doesn't do hits. It harshes his mellow. Don't be making stuff up, man. Also, collisions are from stupidity, not tackling in practice. Btw, I call foul on excessive use of exclamation marks. Take it down a notch. Ease up on the Roids, yo.
