DWinzit
There have been many different stories covering why Strahan isn't in camp. They range from him wanting more money, to wanting to retire, to avoiding practices and two-a-days. Is the real reason that he is protesting the fact that Coughlin is still the coach? He and Tiki were both vocal in their dislike in the Giants coach. If the Giants had a new coach, let's say Cowher, do you think Strahan would be in camp? I say he would be! I know. But somehow Coughlin's all to blame for this? Today Mike and the Mad Dog were at Giants camp and I watched 4 player interviews - Manning, Droughns , Pierce, and Kiwanuka. Whenever asked about Tom Coughlin, they all gave him rave reviews. Mad Dog couldn't even finish the question when he asked Eli Manning - he gave a powerful "No, we believe in him and ourselves and that's all that matters." His body language and tone of voice spoke volumes - very confident in what he was saying and didn't speak like he was forcing it.

DWinzit
I know. But somehow Coughlin's all to blame for this?Certainly, he is in charged and is the one players like Tiki and Strahan had issue with! So what your saying is players who are in their prime and have fairly new contracts were raving about their boss?Funny how long time vets felt more at ease with vocally lambasting the coach! Kindred
Eli was probably told to say that by Coughlin. eli's position is precarious enough that he would probably slob pasta belly's knob if he was in charge.

What's Amani Toomer said lately? He's a long time vet, so what's he said? What about Shaun O'Hara? Hell, O'Hara could have walked after last season and he decided to come back to New York. Sounds like he hates Coughlin! Once again, I'm sure there are players in every organization that don't like their coach. The only reason we hear about it time and time again because journalists love to talk about it.

So you know for sure every player on the Redskins loves Joe Gibbs? Come on, all these guys are making a lot of money and believe they're the best at what they do. Somewhere in that locker room is a player who believes Joe Gibbs is disrespecting him.

So Strahan doesn't want to go through two a days. And because it's national news, it's Coughlin's fault?

jthor99
I think if it were the case that Mike didnt like Coach Coughlin he would of asked for to be cut or traded from the Giants. Strahan is a vet im sure hes come across many coaches throughout his career he hasnt cared for. I'm not saying him and Coach Coughlin have a great realtionship, but i truley believe Mike is just tryint to find out if his heart is 100% into anymore. I can respect that he just came off a foot injury, and he proably has alot of things going through his head right now. It wouldnt suprise me one bit if he ended up showing up in two weeks once pre season started. It also wouldnt suprise me if he retired, but do i think he is sitting out because of Coughlin? i think thats a little far fetched and this is coming from a Skins fan. C26 Run
Of course it is. Strahan has never been a fan of Coughlin, point blank. There is no ifs, ands, nor buts about it. He doesn't like him. Strahan didn't expect Coughlin to make it past this off-season. Strahan hasn't been the same since Fassel left. The two-a-days is just the tip of the iceberg. Think about this, if Coughlin was really willing to give Strahan the time he needs, then why fine him? Coughlin could withdraw those fines but he hasn't. To me the statement from Strahan seems to be: if you want me to deal with that psychotic HC, then you got to pay me. Also from Strahan: I could deal with the money but working under that fool Coughlin is it worth it? :gaintsuck . No it isn't. We all should know that Strahan will be back though because 4 mill is just too much to walk away from. :helmet:
Riggo#44
What other players have this "level of respect for players"? Shockey has called out the coaching staff several times before. Something like "we were out coached, and you can print that" comes to mind.
InTikiITrust
Shockey has called out the coaching staff several times before. Something like "we were out coached, and you can print that" comes to mind. And Shockey's kept his mouth shut this whole idea and has never asked to be traded, released and has never held out since Coughlin got here. If Shockey had this "level of respect" for Coughlin that you claim Strahan has, why would he still want to be a Giant? Shockey's still fairly young and if was put on the market, some team will trade for him. That's an obvious fact. And yet, he is still a Giant, is still playing for Tom Coughlin and doesn't really seem to be bothered by the fact that Coughlin is still the coach. Hell, he showed up in NJ during mini camps. If he had this "level of respect", why do that and have to deal with Coughlin more?
