Ever play...

that game is of legendary status among nintendo fans. something you might want to try, the master quest. when windwaker came out, they had a promotion for preorders where they gave out a redone version of ocarina of time. the only real difference in the game is that the dungeons are different (i think they kept the same water temple since it was hard enough already). apparently since the original game was for the n64, the master quest was just ported over to the gamecube. so when someone ripped the rom from the disc, it was playable on an n64 emulator... so yeah, you should try the master quest.

edit: oh, and if you haven't played twilight princess yet, its a must-have. definitely lives up to and surpasses the standard set by the ocarina.

Oh man, that game was great! I didn't care for the Zelda that came after that, the one with cell shading graphics.

I would spend so much time time playing it.

Remember the first Zelda on NES? After you beat it once you could play it again and the levels were different, it was like a different game.

actually majora's mask came after that. i've never played a non-glitched version of that one. i played at a friend's house on his n64 and everytime i got health, i died. eventually, years later, i downloaded an emulator of it. everytime i exit the spider-cave, the game freezes. i guess i'm just not having luck with that one. as for wind-waker, i didn't even give it a chance because i didn't like what they did with the graphics.

as for old-school zelda, i kinda preferred the one for the SNES better. i have 'em both, but i dunno, there just wasn't much structure to the first one. they just throw you out there in the wild and let you fend for yourself.

I never played it but I have an N64 emulator and I play Smash Bros and WWF No Mercy. Games like Madden are complicated because I dont have a real N64 controller.

do you have another controller you use, or do you use a keyboard? i use a logitech-controller for all of my gaming. its so versatile it lets you do anything. i especially love my control-setup for goldeneye that takes advantage of both joysticks.

Love, love, love Ocarina of Time. One of the best games of all time, easily- just unbelievably epic, deep, great dungeons, great music, satisfying upgrades in weapons/armor/whatever, good mini-games (I especially liked the fishing one where you had to catch the record fish)...it really had it all. I always thought it could've been a pretty good movie in some kind of format (maybe animated).

All I really played on N64 was that, No Mercy, and Perfect Dark.

i remember the first time i faced gannon in OoT, i ran out of magic so i couldn't shoot anymore light-arrows. i thought i had pretty much automatically lost, but then i went through my inventory and saw the deku nuts which can be used to stun enemies. they didn't stun him as long as the light-arrows did, but the did just long enough for me to run around him and finish him.

please use a more descriptive thread title next time please. thanks.

It's actually pretty humorous. With a title like "Ever play"... talk about building up hype and curiosity to get readers to open the thread out of pure intrigue.

And I'd imagine... as a result, the vast majority of us who didn't play this game close the thread immediately and regret the decision.

It's almost as if people don't think others will read their threads if they actually knew what the post was about. So they're inclined to use ambiguous titles.

Great game, loved playing it. Doesn't hold a candle to the Final Fantasy series and FFVII...but that's another argument for another day:)

its not exactly fair to compare games of different genres. zelda is an action/rpg while final fantasy is just straight-up rpg (and i've still never played one of the games in the series, closest i've come was until recently mario rpg, but i finally played through chrono trigger.)
