NoCalMike
Me and some fellow sportsbar buddies from all the way out here on the beautiful coast of California are planning a HUGE trip next year to go to a game @ Fed Ex field.....I don't care who the opponent is since it will be hard enough just getting tickets, however we all prefer something towards the beginning of the season. We are leaning towards flying in on Thursday so we have a few days. Since my family grew up in the Maryland Area, (SilverSpring, Rockville, Gathersburg) we will be able to get ourselves around and will be visiting the stadium stores. I am wondering though when do the dates and times come out for the schedule so we can get this Trip planned and worked out ASAP.......Thanks~! ljer
NoCal, It's usually end of March, beginning of April.
Tom [Giants fan]
The NFL usually releases the NFL week bye week schedule around the end of April. After the draft.
ljer
Tom, It's usually pre-draft, I have last years USA Today with the shed, I believe it was April 2+/-. Other years it has been as early as the last week of March. They may have changed their policy for '03, if so I didn't hear it.

kleese
And remember, we just might open the season on Thursday night on ESPN. This year's 49ers-Giants opener was well received, and Tagliabue said they'd like to make it an annual deal. He specifically mentioned doing it in "dynamic" cities like Chicago and Washington. Seeing the Bears will still be in Champagne next year, the Redskins probably make more sense. Our 7-9 season could hurt us, but the Giants got it this year despite not making the playoffs in 2001. I'd probably rather not play on that night-- I sort of enjoy the first Sunday every year, but don't be surprised to see us in that game. It will also be interesting to see what the networks do with us, assuming we make some decent off-season moves. An early (poinltess) prediction: --We open on that first Thursday night: I'll say against the Jets. --We get one Monday Nighter: Probably an NFC East team, probably fairly early in the season. --We get one Sunday Nighter: Most likely a so-so game, like against the Saints or someone like that. That's probably about it as far as national TV goes-- possibly one of those late season Saturday affairs as well. I always root for late Sunday games in the afternoon-- those are my favorite-- they always have more of a "showcase" feel. But we don't play ANY games out west next year, so the networks will have to slot us in the late spots if we're going to get many.

It was a one year thing. The stadium will be ready next year.

Yeah, but they'll still be in Champaigne for the first three weeks.

That's what Joe Theismann said...he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I think he's right.
