Midnight Judges
My folks have a Sony, I think it's an SXRD or something. The picture is outstanding but you need a dark room. If you don't have a dark room it's utterly worthless.
jaxskins
I am looking for that perfect HDTV Projector in my price range for movies and sports. I'm not looking to spend anymore then $3000. Anyone have an suggestions? I have a Samsung 50" DLP Slim HDTV and love it. Listed at 1300 but after warranties and tax it was around 1800 so if you looking to go 3000 then try the 65" Samsung DLP HDTV.

TheLongshot
Some places to do some research: http://www.projectorcentral.com/ http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=68 Unfortunately, I can't recommend anything since I haven't kept up with the latest and greatest. I'm a big fan of my Optoma, tho. Edit: The HD80 looks like the latest Optoma, and it looks like users are happy with it. One thing you do need to do is to check if the projector will fit in your room. Projectors vary in throw distance and angle and some might not be doable for whatever room you have. Corcaigh
I'd echo the dark room comment. How big is the room and what size image are you looking to produce?
Stephenva79
Thanks. I was looking at the Optoma HD81. People seem to be happy with it.
Stephenva79
Right now I have a Sony 58" rear projection TV. I'm looking for around 90-100" screen that looks as good if not better then my current TV.
HOF44
I like Panasonic projectors. Here is a 1080P available at Costco. It's 3799.00 with a 1000.00 rebate and a review. Costco Link Review

How far back from the screen would you sit, and do you want to have blackout shades on the windows? Unless you have blackouts you'll be disappointed in a projector image in bright daylight. Stephenva79
Here is the room. The projector will probably point to the wall the picture was taken from.

Corcaigh
I will be stilling about 14'. Perfect for a 100" screen. We use ours for movies and gaming. Make sure the projector works from the distance and height you plan to mount it. Dependent on the model, it probably wouldn't want to be any closer than 11 feet to get a full image.
