Dccat
Smoot & Springs start right?........No way Carlos stays a Starter? like I've been hearing....What do ya'll think?????
superozman
They should do whoever is better in camp. You want to develop Carlos, not hinder him. If he does better than smoot, then he should start over smoot. I think it's more of a battle between smoot and rogers than all three though. However i'm not a coach only a fan . mbroo12
Whoever puts us in the best position to win is who needs to start. I think Carlos is a good corner, he just needs to hold on to the ball.
willmb5
Seems to me that Carlos is the starting #2 corner as of right now. Obviously that can change, but that's just what Ive deduced from early reports and hearing Gregg Williams comments. I expect we'll see a lot of plays with all 3 of them on the field in nickle and dime passing situations. That will be a lot better than last year with Rogers, Jimoh, and Kenny Wright
Kurd Cudins
Smoot & Springs start right?........No way Carlos stays a Starter? like I've been hearing....What do ya'll think?????I think you've been hearing what you've been hearing for a reason. Rogers is good, despite having a tough year last year. He is developing and will excel again as a #2 after gaining valuable #1 experience.
RedskinsNation
If its the Smoot of '04 then I would think he'd get the nod...rather earn the nod. But if its the past couple years Smoot...aka the Vikings Version then Rogers would probably remain the #2 Corner. I really dont know what to expect from Smoot this year.....was it just being away (in Minnesota) that caused his game to deteriorate?
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
carlos is better against the run, and he needs to grow, so most likely he'll be the #2. smoot will play a ton though, we'll probably have a lot of nickel stuff going on with all 3 of them. and springs will miss time as usual, so smoot/rogers as the two corners isnt too far off. jthor99
I think it is Rogers spot to basically to give up. Alot, was put on Rogers last year, but hell is you compare his to Rumph who was absoultley horrible in every aspect of his game last year he really didnt play all that bad. If we can't produce any pressure on the QB it wont even matter with a healthy Springs and Freedy Smoot starting they will still light us up. I think Carlos is going to bounce back this year, and if my prediction is wrong than im very confident in Smoots ability espcially in the man to man coverage scheme that i think we will he playing alot this season. Carlos just fits Coach Williams scheme a little bit better than Freddy does. Im a big fan of how Carlos comes up and supports the run, before last year (playing 10 yards off the reciever) i thought he was coming into this league as a physical corner. Hopefully, this coaching staff gets him back that way i think he could be very successful in that regrard.
ASUki
I really dont know what to expect from Smoot this year.....was it just being away (in Minnesota) that caused his game to deteriorate? Having Champ across from him really helped his first couple of years and then with a strong Springs, he also excelled... Personally, I think Rogers will start because of the competition level...either way, we'll have a formidable secondary... HTTR! :point2sky
JeepRyder
Actually last night I was watching Comcast Sportsnite and Kelly Johnson was interviewing Springs and he said he was glad Smoot was back cause he made practice fun but he also said with Smoot back it allows him to return to his best position as nickel. I always have been under the impression the nickel is the 3rd corner. Maybe he just meant when Smoot comes in then he gets to shift to Nickel. I just want Rogers to put some stick-um on his hands this year so he doesnt drop anymore int's.
dametana
Same As Last Year With Smoot Coming In At Nickle Dime.. Or Maybe When He 22 Playin Bad....
BMahoney
There will be a competition for the spot during training camp, and our coaches will play the best man for the job. IMO I would play Rogers in 4-3, because he is a good cb in run support (or atleast better than Smooot). As far as when we are in Nickel and Dime, I would like to see Smoot at #2 because IMO he is a better cover corner than Rogers and will break up more big pass plays. This will allow Rogers to play Nickel against worst receivers as then he is used to, which I believe will help him gain confidence and progress in his coverage ability. Just my 2. Chump Bailey
I thought Smoot was destined to be our nickel corner? I like all of them personally - Mack, Smoot, Butler, Carlos, Springs Much better than last season's bunch for sure.

throwback37
If Smoot is still the same player he was when he left, then I prefer his game over Rogers. But let's face it, with injuries and the frequency of the 3 receiver set, Smoot, Rogers and Springs should all get lots of playing time.
PigSkins47
From what I've been reading, Springs has been steppin it up in camp and Rogers is still dropping passes - I think after a few games in the regular season, it'll be Springs/Smoot with Rogers coming in for nickel/dime packages. This is assuming, of course, that Springs stays healthy... However, after this season, Rogers will probably get his starting spot back
emor09
any way we put it, Springs, Rogers, Smoot, Macklin, Butler and Jimoh are way better than Rumph and Wright....Here's to 3x the int's of last year!
Stew
I think DB is now a strong point of the team again. Purely speculation, but i think Rogers will remain the #2 and Smoot will play the nickle. I dont think Smoot will mind playing support to this cast of corners. We have a shark pool for a secondary.

SonOfWashington
At this point, I see Rogers at #2 and Smoot in the #3 but this can change. Plus I see a lot of possible rotation between the three. And we always have Butler and Macklin too, so we're looking pretty good there for now.
chiplohmillers#1
Carlos is a starter. I hope we can get the entire secondary in meetings together finally
Stew
Carlos is a starter. I hope we can get the entire secondary in meetings together finally That was a worry for me as well. I remember reading an article about it last season during all the ArchuletaGate stuff was happening. It was the safeties coach right? I thought he would have been replaced this offseason but i dont think he has been.
