For one, the Giants would balk on the proposal about trading him. Even if they did find a trading partner so to speak its obvious at that point Strahan and his agent would want an extension. Hard to imagine many teams getting a 35 year old whos coming off a foot injury all of the last year. I think it makes it hard for Mike to come back, but i think withthin the next week or two he will have to. He just went through a bitter divorce and his ex wife is taking him to the bank. With youth and health on Briggs side, the Bears know they have a better chance of getting a full season out of him than Strahan. If the Bears determine they wish to keep Briggs, they can still negotiate a deal through the year.Strahan WAS one of the best DE's in the game.
