Giants have begun fining Strahan 14k a day

As a Giants fan I am glad to see them hold their ground but in that same breath I am worried about the ramifications in the New York media this whole thing will have.

At this point I see it being hard for us to take him back or him to come back so to me this means a trade is much more likely

I agree with your point that this makes if difficult for him to comeback to the Giants organization, but i certainly dont see him getting traded. For one, the Giants would balk on the proposal about trading him. Even if they did find a trading partner so to speak its obvious at that point Strahan and his agent would want an extension. Hard to imagine many teams getting a 35 year old whos coming off a foot injury all of the last year. I think it makes it hard for Mike to come back, but i think withthin the next week or two he will have to. He just went through a bitter divorce and his ex wife is taking him to the bank. Trust me hes not going to leave a guaranteed 4 million on the table i think he will be back here in the next week or 2.

When healthy he is still one of the 5 best ends in the game but with his recent injury history it hurt his value a lot. We wouldn't be able to get much but one disgruntled player for another might work out just right

Briggs or maybe Samuel???:D

Ok, so wait. You want to swap a 35 year old DE contemplating retirement for 1 of 2 mid-twenty something players who are some of the better ones at their position. If you throw in a ham sandwich, maybe you can get the real Manning and kick the joke one to the curb. :silly:

So the Bears play one more year with Briggs and can't franchise anymore as part of the agreement they made with him and lose him for nothing? Thats better then getting one of the best DE in the game right now?

Don't fool yourself LBs like Briggs are a lot easier to find then passrushers like Strahan.

With youth and health on Briggs side, the Bears know they have a better chance of getting a full season out of him than Strahan. If the Bears determine they wish to keep Briggs, they can still negotiate a deal through the year.

Strahan WAS one of the best DE's in the game. He is old and has been injured in two of the past three seasons. :2cents:

Yep, I see the Giants Trading Briggs for Strahan.

Also, the Bears get the Giants 2008 1st and 3rd rounders.

Hey it worked to get Eli Manning.

I see this ending badly btw. Strahan and the Giants.

Also, Strahan is getting to that point where he's like Bruce Smith when he played here. Past his prime.

That would be crazy if the bears got a 1st and 3rd plus strahan. I'd be extremely jealous if that happened.

What happened with Simeon Rice visiting the giants today...that adds another interesting twist in the Strahan holdout.

Whether or not Osi is sticking up for his friend Strahan is yet to be determined. One thing is for sure, he stuck a wrench in the Giants game plan!

Giants | Umenyiora unwilling to move for Rice

Mon, 30 Jul 2007 22:28:43 -0700

Arthur Staple, of Newsday, reports New York Giants DE Osi Umenyiora does not want to move to left defensive end if the team signs free-agent DE Simeon Rice (Buccaneers). Umenyiora said, "There's nowhere for him to play. He can't play left end because that's where teams run the ball. And he's not playing right end, because that's where I am. I'm a right end and I've been successful there, so I don't feel a need to move to a different position. It's ridiculous."
