mitchie
We have Campbell, Brunnell, the Blaylock or whatever guy and lil' Palmer. What value does he add? Or, better stated, what is a logical argument of keeping him? Does get paid virtually nothing and does some administrative role helping the other QBs? I think those four are enough. Brunnell - backup, the europe dude 2nd backup. and Palmer just stays along side Campbell until he develops into a #2 to replace Brunnell and Blaylock. Palmer may end up being a good #2 in five or so years. Once Brunnell is retired..... But please, why is Collins on the team? Am I totally missing something? flexxskins
I love it, Blaylock is a QB and Brunell is going to play until he is 41. Anyway, you kind of answered your own question IMO. Collins was basically brought in to help the other QB's with Saunders' playbook and to be a viable back up who could step in with full knowledge of the entire playbook. :2cents:

And i think Collins is on the team to basically be another QB coach. I think he may be cut at the end of camp anyways, i wouldn't be surprised to see Bramlet make it over him. But for now Collins is there just to help JC come along in Saunders offense, which we really have Mark Brunell there to do as well so i really don't think we need Collins. Atleast Brunell can be a solid backup and a teacher. Collins is only a teacher who will never play well in the game. who the hell is the guy from europe? wilbur58z
This isn't even a hard question...so here goes with obvious answers: 1) Palmer sucks right now. 2) Bramlet is the Jesse Lumsden of the QB position....until he actually does something in THIS COUNTRY, against real NFL players, and not in Hamburg Germany against a bunch of bums. 3) Brunell's coming off a torn labrum and was barely serviceable before it. So you keep Collins around in case the first two are just totally awful in preseason, which is entirely possible, and until Brunell proves he can stay healthy. Plus he probably knows the offense better than all the other QBs.

the burgundy and gold
nah, your reading comprehension is poor. palmer might take over the #2 spot, but not from brunell. Palmer will not be taking over the #2 spot, he's 5th on the depth charts right now. He's barely gotten any reps at camp and during those reps i've heard he's not done anything not worthy, don't be surprised if he gets cut or practice squaded after camp. Vinnick
I am curious about that also. If you get to your #3 QB, something has gone really wrong. However, I believe Todd is a little higher than Vet Min on the cap. I know they are under right now, and will be after Landry finally signs. But, they want to extend #47, and probably #21 soon also. I see no point in cutting him just to cut him. I don't think he really brings a negative for the team. If during the preseason he takes snaps away from Palmer or Bramlet then yes maybe he's doing some negative but now i don't see him doing so much negative that he deserves to be cut, he also doesn't make enough for us to really feel the need to cut him to save money. please read again. i SAID IF 5 YEARS, IF HE STAYS WITH THE TEAM. you're correct, my bad. mistertim
But please, why is Collins on the team? Am I totally missing something? Because he had a 156.9 QB rating one year. Granted he only played in 3 games, made 6 throws, and completed 5. But still...that's a great QB rating!

zCommander
Is this thread a joke? Sheez.... Your posting is a joke! I don't understand something and that is if you don't have a valid opionion why do you even post? I guess you are looking at your thread count more then providing any real insight. Or you have a hard time typing more then couple of words!!! I do also wonder about Collins. He is liked by Saunders and if Brunell was not the backup then Collins would have been. But from a positive point of view it does help the younger QB to have someone around who has been around the league longer than they have been. Collins is a QB warmer. Where to start? 1) We have poor spelling of our back-up QB's last name. BRUNELL 2) In addition, the Blaylock guy is a running back, not a quarterback. It is tough to distinguish the two it seems. The result of this penalty is minus 5 posts from your post count. Continue on.

Who's for Blaylock winning the starting QB job this year over Campbell!! I'd say by week 6 either Blaylock or that Europe dude is our starting QB. LOL, come one now. :-)
Wyvern
Frankly, I thought Palmer was a waste of a draft pick. He had issues coming out of college, not living up to his potential, and I've read that his training camp play wasn't very promising. We used our second 6th rounder (obtained for Archuleta) to pick Palmer up when we probably should have gone for Ben Patrick (TE Delaware) who was picked up before we could get him with our 7th round pick. So, in the 7th, we had to settle for Tyler Ecker (TE Michigan) instead -- and Patrick was rated as a much better TE. If we'd picked up Patrick with our second 6th rounder, we then could have used our 7th rounder pick to snag either Abraham Wright (DE Colorado) or --even better-- Keith Jackson (DT Arkansas) who was a two-gapper widebody with potential that St. Louis snapped up. As I said, I wasn't too keen on wasting a pick on Palmer. Let's get real. Palmer isn't going to be playing in the NFL in 2007. Bramlet will probably get the #3 QB, assuming he does well pre-season, and Collins retires. The only thing good that would happen to Palmer is that he gets 'squadded." Palmer's big, strong, and maybe one day he'll have some potential as a backup. If Gibbs & Co. want to keep Palmer on ice for a season, maybe a spot would open up. Right now, I'd take a lot of the journeyman backups already out there over Jordan Palmer. And we never needed the guy in the first place.
flexxskins
I usually don't agree with piling on, but the "penalty on the post" thing made me giggle like a girl. Therefore, I'm absolutely cool with it in this thread. Besides, the creater of the thread hurt my feelings.
