DWinzit
Demps has been an expensive disappointment in NY. Giants | Demps demoted? Sat, 28 Jul 2007 22:58:14 -0700 Arthur Staple, of Newsday, reports New York Giants S Will Demps is listed as the No. 2 free safety on the team's depth chart. http://kffl.com/hotw/nfl

Kurd Cudins
Demps played VERY poorly last year was a huge bust. What I don't understand is why Wilson has moved over to FS, when he seems like a much more natural Strong. It's probably a motivation tool, something needed after last offseasons payday. Either way their secondary is poor and should be an exploitable weakness this season.

AKM311
It hasn't just been 2 practices. Its been a FULL year of an offseason, training camp, 16 games, a playoff game, and now this past offseason. It has been 18 months of crap! That is why he was demoted. Just like most of us on this bored admitted to the failures of Arch even while he was a Skin, you should admit this guy is not working out for you. Makes you realize Demps succeeded in Bmore because of the talent around him and not the talent he posesses.

"And, like I said before, they were shuffling a lot in the secondary, so I may have just caught a part where Butler was in because it's just how it ended up. Considering its the first practice, I really wouldn't read much into it." "i hateddemps last year as well, but to conclusively assert that spags has given butler the starting FS job at this point is plain stupid. to determine that based on a camp report of a practice you didnt even see is even stupider." "S Will Demps also looks buff and ready to play"

"S Will Demps also looks buff and ready to play" I am not going to act like I know everything about the Giants or know exactly whats going on. I watch about 8 of there games a year because my best friend is a die hard Giants fan. However, just seeing that he HAS been demoted to 2nd string shows that something is not right. Just like Arch last year. It is ok to admit it. It does not mean the Giants will suck or that the season is over. All it means is Demps has not LIVED up to the expectations the Giants had for him when they brought him in.

But no one knows if he's officially been demoted yet. As one guy said, the Giants were rotating guys in and out of the secondary during the practice he watched. Demps might have gotten half the snaps and Butler may have gotten the other half and this guy might have only seen Butler out there. We don't know. If someone replaces Andre Carter at DE on the first string, does that mean he's been replaced?
Koolblue13
Wow, a seventh round draft pick who played back feild for a top defense isn't as good as they thought. What a suprise, playing next to Ed Reed and behind Ray Lewis made him appear a little better than he really is. Shocker.
AKM311
If the first post was said about Andre Carter. That he is LISTED as #2 on the depth chart, then I will say for the time being he has been replaced. Could he improve and get his job back, like Demps can and probably will? Sure, but as of now I would say he is not living up to expectations. Just like if you have read recent reports, Lloys is the #3 because he lost his starting job and is not living up to ecpectations. I am not the type to argue something I know is true.

InTikiITrust
Also from Arthur Staple, who admits Demps was the #2, but... We saw Butler running with the 1s in mini-camp in a rotation with Wilson and Will Demps, so I assumed there was nothing to read into that. Let's wait a few more practices until we declare this guy as the #2.

InTikiITrust
From Pat from InsideFootball.com All teams are now required to issue a functional depth chart but the coaches caution reporters to not read into it as they're still trying out new players at different positions. Walking Deadman
When he was a Raven he was the weakest link in the 2ndary, this doesn't suprise me that much as people I know who follow the Ravens were'nt that sad in seeing him go.
Hitman#21
That was Sheldon Brown of the Eagles. That was the playoff game. Im talking about Giants vs the Saints in NY a regular season game last yr. Trust me i saw the Sheldon Brown hit.
Blue Hefner 58
I'm not ashamed to say that Demps was a huge dissapointment. As of now he's listed as #2 on the depth chart. I just hope the coaches position our players to where we can succeed as a team. P.S. I don't know if you Redskins know or not, but Brandon Lloyd was demoted too!
Genghis Khan
I dont know he does have some talent and he did give shockey a concussion in practice last years training camp. Shockey is a great players but he whines way too much and some other giants.
Blue Hefner 58
I dont know he does have some talent and he did give shockey a concussion in practice last years training camp. Shockey is a great players but he whines way too much and some other giants. And that makes him good? Also, he barely touched Shockey, Shockey's feet actually slid underneath him and he hit his head on the turf. Lastly, I think we got the message about us running our mouths. The staff gave out tshirts to the players with "Giants" on the front and "Talk is cheap" on the back.
BlueTiki21
Its way too early to say that he has dropped down the depth chart, I would at least give it a week. Spagnuolo might just be seeing what he has to work with. I will admit that Demps has not played as well as I thought he would, but he did improve towards the latter part of the season. Maybe he wasn't fully recovered from his ACL injury? Who knows. One thing is for sure, he's getting the message that he needs to improve his game. Competition only makes things better. Butler has been impressing the coaches for a while now, and I would like to see a little more of what he can do, especially after that hit that he laid on TO in the first Dallas game
BlueTiki21
That was Sheldon Brown of the Eagles. Although no where near what Brown did, Demps placed a nice hit on Bush too.
