Darrell: Thanks for the memories

As our beloved Washington Redskins take the field this Sunday against their Arch-Rivals the Dallas Cowboys the man who is the last remaining link to the Joe Gibbs Glory Days will play his final game. Darrell is all us Redskin fans left from our Super Bowl Championship Teams. He played with such Redskins Legends as Art Monk, Charles Mann, Dexter Manley, Dave Butz, Monte Coleman, John Riggins, Joe Theisman, Neil Okelwitz the Hogs and the Posse.

A career that spanned 20 Seasons, 6 Coaches, 4 Presidents and numerous Starting QBs. Darrell is what an athlete and a role model should be, am man who gave back to the community with his Darrell Green Youth Life Foundations.

Darrell never had his sneaker ad or other endorsements that many athletes have now. He never found God after years of partying and womanizing because he was always a man of God. He never attacked his coaches and teammates in the media and in 2000 when he lost his starting job to Deion Sanders, he did not complain.

Darrell just played football, he gave it all for 20 seasons and in his final season when he was relegated to nickel packages and special teams he still gave it all.

He might not be well know to the casual football fan but he is well know to Redskin Fans and that is all that matters.

So as the sun sets on another season of Redskin Football, one of the greatest players to wear the Burgundy and Gold will take the field for the last time in front of the Redskin Faithful. As the say all good things must come to an end and this great career will finally reach its finale.

All I can say to Darrell is “Thanks for the Memories”
