Drinkers spilled out of pubs, motorists stopped to gawp and camera phones were aimed upwards as the five orbs, in a seeming formation, hovered above Stratford-Upon-Avon for half an hour. The unidentified flying objects lit up the otherwise clear night sky above Shakespeare's birthplace in Warwickshire on Saturday. *****click link for rest of story

Dan T.
Very odd. These are truly, until someone provides an explanation, unidentified flying objects. The rugby lantern explanation doesn't seem to work, because the larger stray light comes rapidly from way across the sky to join the other grouping. I'd be curious to hear some follow-up as to what these were.

Zguy28
Its a shame that if you believe in UFO's most people think your a loon. Yet those are the same people who are also quick to point out the extreme odds of us being the only intelligent life in the universe.
DOOG
yeah..I have a hard time understading why people think we can be the ONLY type of life in the universe.:logo:
Dan T.
I think it's a real REAL stretch to assume that unidentified lights in the night sky equates to alien life. For now, those lights over that England town can be considered unidentified flying objects. Only a fool would believe that the next logical conclusion is that they came from billions of light years away and contain aliens.

No, your right, except I don't think its foolish, just unlikely.
Dumbsheet
The rugby lantern explanation doesn't seem to work, because the larger stray light comes rapidly from way across the sky to join the other grouping. Not to mention what would rugby lanterns be doing up in the sky anyway?

UFO very obviously exist. To claim otherwise is just plain crazy. We know something moves around up there because it's been photographed and videotaped hundreds if not thousands of times. The problem is we don't know what they are. They could be military tests or some random enviromental thing we don't know about. It's a big leap to assume they are aliens. Dan T.
agreed....my comment was more of a general on not related to this particular article.:logo: Fair enough. My position on on the connection between UFO's and life elsewhere is one of extreme skepticism. I'm open to the notion that with the staggering vastness of the universe, there might be other forms of life somewhere. But here's where the disconnect comes between that and the notion that UFO's are piloted by those life forms: Suppose its true - there is some other life form out there that travels to our little earth, only to hover mysteriously in the sky and scoot away. So they have the intelligence and the technical know-how to travel thousands, even millions of light years. They have pinpointed Earth, this tiny sand speck in some remote corner of a tiny galaxy. They have the curiosity to travel those vast distances to reach us. Yet with all that unfathomable intelligence, technical know-how, and intellectual curiosity, they don't close the deal. They don't attempt to make contact. They hover, then disappear. I'm not buying it.

If you landed in IRAQ right now...would you touch down and have a beer at the local pub? We live in a violent world, not to mention we dont know why "they" may be visiting. I do think there is some type of intelligent life out there. I'm just not sure its what everyone sayd it it is (ie: little green men") many of the UFOs can be explained away, some however cannot. I dont know, ultimately I beleive, but I dont know what will ever come of it if anything.:2cents: :logo:

First, you are assuming that they have not already made contact... perhaps they have. Also, you are assuming that we are the only planet that they visit, or that there is only one group of visitors. What would we do if we discovered a lesser species life on another planet? What do we do here on our own planet? We capture animals and observe them, we put them in zoos, we observe them naturally, etc... We may try to observe a lesser form of life on another planet without just jumping right in and saying "we're here". Maybe we are not advanced enough to understand them. Do monkeys understand us? I can hear it now... Curious George runs home to his mom... Mamma... some weird huge giant things captured me and put me in a cage and did all kinds of tests and experiments on me... I'm not saying those lights are aliens, I'm just saying that you are making a lot of assumptions... :2cents:
