Fascinating game. The Redskins definately use the pass to open up the run and the Texans had no defense for Ramsey's arm until they put so much into coverage we were able to simply gouge them. Ramsey is NOT a good player in weather right now as you saw when the rain started he started missing, but, once again, Ramsey is showing some solid things. He is generally accurate and very poised.

Watson is a true darting running back and looked like he had some power. Betts though really seems like a more complete back in terms of running style. I think against a fast defense Watson is in trouble because darting doesn't work. Betts is fluid at speed and looked great. Spurrier showed something by running an old fashioned Riggo drill and this team won a game where it was so much better than the opposition and even played like it was. Special teams is an immense concern, but, we'll see what happens with that.

Derrius Thompson is making a serious play to be brought back. Gardner continues to have moments, and then disappear, so he may lack the type of consistency you need as a true No. 1, but, he is still a nice threat and teams respect him so much he's opening the field. Ramsey's arm is incredible. He makes mistakes and yet his mistakes aren't deadly because his arm strength makes every mistake a possible plus.

Defensively we showed our true weakness as a team. We generated precious little pressure on any consistent basis. Our offensive line is not strong, but isn't killing us. The defensive line is killing us because it weakens areas of strength by not being capable of getting to the QB without help. This is a nice game to have played to head into Dallas. Let's win this one .

Simeon Rice would have looked really good in burgundy and gold right about now. Bruce Smith can still get to the QB but it's getting to a point where he is starting to become more of a liability than anything.

We're in desperate need of an upgrade along both lines and I hope that we won't blow our offseason wad on a sexy WR signing.

Laurent, I think we are going to have to go for a sexy WR signing in the offseason, because there are very few good OL and DL free agents available. :doh:

Look at it this way... if we sign either Peerless Price or David Boston..... we can use that #1 draft pick on a DL or OL in the draft.

The only quality DL available in free agency that I'm aware of ... is Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila... who is a sack specialist, not a run stuffer.

On the OL we have guard Mo Collins.

agreed on Ramsey, the threat of the pass setting up the run.....and the work of Watson and Betts................

also, Cartwright had a SUPER game, both blocking at the point of attack and making some nice plays when receiving and rushing in limited opportunities.

On defense, the Skins did a nice job of stopping the run against a team with a poor offensive line.

The pass rush IS on the critical list.

We have two players in Gardener and Wynn that are stud run stuffer and decent rushers, one DT in Wilkinson on IR and then a 40 year old RDE in Smith that should be playing 20 plays a game instead or 45

We need three down players at RDE and LDT with size and speed to get after the quarterback.

And we need to get Trotter back healthy.

Pierce had a nice game today as well at OLB and Mitchell came up and crunched Wells and Allen a few times.
