Rex Tomb
Our defense suffered some major injuries for most of the season (Shawn Springs, Pierson Prealou, Salavea, Griffin [again]) and were forced to play with guys who were not our #1 when the year started. We also suffered injuries to our offense (Portis, Moss). Combine that with sub-par QB play, undergoing a QB change in the latter part of the season, learning a new offensive scheme, and FA hugely underperforming (Lloyd and Archuletta) and I'd say you have your answer. All in all, a year to forget considering the expectations. There were a few bright spots, though. Jason Campbell became our starter and looked pretty good. His future's so bright, according to Toressa that he's "gotta wear shades". I would highly recommend you check that out in the Skins flicks room. It was very well done. Another bright part of the year was the emergence of an offense that appeared anemic with a 36 year old QB running it. Once we got a QB with an arm that could air it out, the defenses started to respect our potency. Our offense should pick up next year right where it left off. Now, if only our defense would follow suit, I'd say we are poised to make a playoff run. Mytwocents...

The offnese was improved under JC but still has a long way to go.
Friend of the Devil
this is a question that will linger all off-season. as a new skins fan you will find yourself saying this alot. "what the hell is going on here?" but we can all hope for a nice playoff run this coming season. Hail Skins!!

elkabong82
We had some bad injuries (Portis, Springs, Prioleau, Moss) in key areas. The defense couldn't create any pressure w/o Springs in, teams had all day to throw on us, and we weren't much better at stopping the run as a result. The new players and coaches meant there was a learning process required, and we lost too much talent from injury to compensate. The offense didn't click until there was a new QB in, and by then it was too late. The kicker situation was atrocious. We didn't have stability until Suisham started. In fact, we lost 3-4 games because of missed field goals. Given all that happened this year, the Skins were at least competitive in every game they played. There wasn't a team that owned us from start to end. We were close in most of the games. I think it really does boil down to injuries. We lost our running back (Portis), who is one of the best in the league, and we lost possibly the most important position in this defense (Springs). We looked much better when these guys played. Two players shouldn't make that much of a difference, but does anyone think the Colts would have gotten to the Superbowl and won without their most important defensive player, Bob Sanders? Our D played significantly better w/ Springs in, as did the Colts w/ Sanders in. Does anyone think the Giants would have made the playoffs without Tiki? Portis was the biggest reason we made that push into the playoffs in '05, and we didn't have him for '06. There were many reasons for why '06 was a bad season. However, most of it can be chalked up to injuries and poor D-line play.
One Shot
I think your view of the offense if definitely of the "cup half full" variety. The offnese was improved under JC but still has a long way to go. actually, i don't think the offense has a long way to go at all. It was doing virtually everything right towards the end of the season. THe running game was phenomenonal, and the passing game was not bad either. JC just needs to establish a rapport with his recievers and the offense will be good to go.

PCS
When in doubt, go with the reliable answer. Short and to the point. It was Brunell's fault.

bschurm
I think the problems with our team this past season have been debated enough in this thread. I would like to ask how you became a Redskin fan over the other 31 teams in the NFL? Since you are a new fan, what was it that attracted you to The Washington Redskins? By the way, who is your favorite Premier League team?
