Rdskn4Lyf21
Asante Samuel! The guy isn't getting paid what he is worth (I believe he was still on his rookie contract). He is looking for more money and he is very talented.
Slateman
Clements. Personally, I think Samuels is more a product of the system. Yes, he has talent. But New England is renowned for system players.
The End
Asante is gonna have to be franchised, He'll probably end up in NY or Indy. Right now it looks like Clements may be it, what with his former head coach and Dbacks coach already here. Bly is slow, he got burned a few times last season but that was with the Lions defense so i dunno.

If he's franchised, then doesn't he stay where he is and get paid the average of the top five paid players at his position?

Then they'd actually have to pay him, and thats not like New England at all.

Dont get me wrong, I think Samuels is good, but there's no telling with New England players, they could probably make Warrick Holdman look decent. Clements all the way. The Pro Bowl is no way to judge the quality of a player. I mean if Dawkins wasn't injured ST would have never been in a Pro Bowl himself and we all know how skilled he is. Clements is a helluva DB and knows Williams system. IMO he would fit in great here.

Taylor 36
We just need help, period. Our defense has so many holes do to injury, lack of depth, and age. I'd be happy with any of these guys.

I remember another thread about Clements and people were complaining that he had only made one pro bowl and not worth alot of money but yet some people were saying the pro bowl doesnt mean jack **** and is over rated... Just having some fun...
jamesbondman
My 2 cents is that better to sign ONE all pro and improve your team for sure than sign 3 average players because somebody is afraid to overspend. We know this for sure. Signing Clements will improve the secondary and help Sean Taylor because Taylor won't have to keep one eye over on that side of the field. Then Drafting Branch improves the run defense up the middle so Taylor doesn't have to worry about someone running up the gut. Those 2 moves alone would vastly improve this defense. Plus Big Joe Salvea is coming back healthy. Forget last season. He was injured and played with other injured players. This defense can return in 2007.,,,with just 2 moves. Brandon Lloyd Christmas
Get Hood and Manning JR for less. hood is a nickelback, and i really wonder how good manning is, or if its just that the bears defense as a whole made him look better. Joe got beat out when he got healthy. Daneils is 34 and he will continue to decline. Marshall is not a MLB. Golston is still a year away I think. Branch would help, but we still need another DE and MLB.
Morneblade
hood is a nickelback, and i really wonder how good manning is, or if its just that the bears defense as a whole made him look better. Hood played very well when he was forced to start. Manning Jr I think got alot of help from a good pass rush. But any DB will, and he does make plays.Thing is, you get 2 good guys (and depth is a problem at DB for us) for the price of one.
Sherlock Holmes
The sensible Picks in free agency are Clements, and London Fletcher. Both know Williams schemes, and both look like good upgrades.
