I look everywhere until I either find the missing item or give up.

If I find the missing item, I continue searching anyway, just to discredit the people who tell me it'll be in the last place I look.

:rotflmao:

For small things, i always go through my pockets. Of every item of clothing i own. Clean, dirty, all of it.

If it's something I can't replace without a lot of trouble I always retrace everywhere I've been. For things like tools, I buy more. I have so many screwdrivers/hammers/pliers that any door you open in my house has basic tools available.

I once learned that when you place something down, like your keys, take a few seconds to vision where it is, what it's next to, its surrounding. You take a visual shot of it like a picture. And then when you need to recall your keys again, you know exactly where it is.

Most of the time, we place things without realizing we're doing it - that's why we can't remember where we placed them. If you think of a place to hide your money, when you need the money again, you remember where you hid it because there was a thought process there. But when you come home from work, you just throw your cellphone, keys, and wallet whereever. Then when you need them again, you have to search.

That's called a photographic memory....not everyone has one. I do also...we are rare me and you. :D
