An "Act of God"?

Yesterday, Tiki Barber said Coughlin's tough practices drove him to retirement and it was an "act of God" that he wasn't seriously injured in practice. And he said that Coughlin can't relate to his players. That little goodbye shot should help the Giants locker room completely disintegrate.

Anyone else thinking we might have a little "act of God" of our own? Reid is out -- and will be distracted when he gets back -- and McNabb has to come back from injury again. Coughlin's team hates him. And Wade Phillips is a shadow of Bill Parcells -- how will he deal with TO? The whole NFC East is in serious turmoil.

All that adds up to an opportunity for the Skins. Everyone knows that the Eagles collapse in 2005 greatly helped the Skins make the playoffs. Will all these disruptions help the Skins squeak into the playoffs in 2007?

You're including the Skins as well, I presume?

Every team except the Colts is in "turmoil" at this time of the year.

no, the Giants are in greater turmoil. Barber retired and took his shots. Stahan, the defensive leader is unhappy. Petitgout, the best OL when healthy, was cut this week.

Coughlin was shaky going into last season after 11-5. Now after the defections and the 8-8 record do things all of a sudden brighten?

I think Barber could see that this wasn't going to end well and got out while he had other opportunities.

i think tiki is pretty stupid for saying that. maybe it was coughlins tough training methods that kept him one of the elite backs in the nfl? i mean, tiki was top 5 his last 3 years under coughlin, and had the best years of his career under coughlin. obviously none of us know if they are directly related, but it sure looks like one to me.

At this point of time, everyone has a chance to win their division except the Texans and the Browns. I'm sure there are Cowturd, Iggles, Midget fans out there talking about how messed up the Redskins are right now. The fact is, we have no idea how things are going to play out. Will we win our division? If we stay healthy and have a few lucky bounces, sure. However, we may not stay healthy and never have the ball bounce our way. No one knows.

You're right about that. But the question is, did Tiki improve because of the tough training, or despite it? Personally, I think the Skins would benefit from some tough training. I think the soft training camp last year sent exactly the wrong message to our spoiled prima donnas.

NFL teams often shy away from tough training because the injury risk is always there. But hell -- you can lose a player during a freak play anytime, as we saw with Portis. Practice soft, play soft, I think. It's no coincidence that the Bears are tough and made it to the Superbowl despite their flaws. Toughness is important, particularly late in the season. I don't think anyone would argue that the Skins are a tough team -- mentally or physically.

It was an act of God that made D. Green knock away that would be td pass that would have put Minn in the SB in '88. Remember how Gibbs dropped to his knees just before the snap, then bang, we were off to SD 10 seconds later.

More like, it was an act of God that caused the ball to be dropped, because Darrell never touched it.

I take offense to this. If Domenick Davis is playing last year the Texans would have been a 8 win team and if they had some O-Line they can be a 10 win team. And they beat the Colts (without Bob Sanders) but the point is they beat them. And thier defense is going to be sick. Demeco Ryans is holding down the MLB spot and Mario William is not as bad as people think he was. And Dunta Robinson continues to be a underrated Corner, so to say that they have NO shot is stupid.

I honestly don't see us winning the division. I think the Eagles will do it if Macnabb stays healthy.

I think the complete opposite. The Eagles will do worse if McNabb is healthy and plays a majority of their games.

They were a much better team with Garcia under the center. Everyone knows it, even the Eagles, they just don't want to admit it because hell McNabb is the franchise and all of a sudden he's being showed up by his back up.

Garcia is more accurate, a better leader, and not all that far behind McNabb as far as mobility if at all.

Like everyone else here I hate the Eagles, so i'm hoping they stick with McNabb.

With all this said , yes I agree we can take all advantages possible but I like the ole days when we were just better than everyone else. I'd much rather win the East playing against everyone best. Just my opinion :2cents:
