Bikes?

You might want to talk to mikeinalexandria, he bikes a bit. I'm kinda in the offseason right now since it's so darn cold. As far as the bike I have, it's a Cannondale F1000SL. It's treated me well, both on and off road.

Nice bike, though I prefer hardtails. That should be fun to ride.

I am looking for a cheap road bike, that's about all I can say I know about bikes. Well, my roommate last year was a complete cycling nut. He was trying to go pro, I think he has some partial sponsorships right now.

Are you looking for a training bike or a recreational bike? Get a mountain bike with quick release hubs. Then you can buy road tires without having to buy a new bike.

I bought this used int eh summer last year.

There are some great used bike places now, both online and local shops.

I'd check them before I dropped money on a new bike.

Mr. S. Check out a Fuji Ace. It was my first road bike and it was excellent for what I wanted at the time. And it's cheap (ie less than 400) new and even cheaper used.

I have a Trek Fuel, and I must say , it is by FAR the best bike I have ever owned. I ride it fairly hard, and I am a fairly big guy 6'2" 235lbs. It takes a beating on some of the hard trails, but it still rides awesome. You can also tune out the rear suspension for a hard tail if you want to make it more of a road bike. Great all around, and you can pick up one on Craigslist for under $1K

working at a bike shop, i think the fuel series is by far the most fun/easy to work on. they are also extremely good bikes. im choosing to get a yeti because 1) they are debatably the best mountain bikes, and 2) i live minutes away from the yeti headquarters/"factory"

are you serious or kidding

Listen, that's what I got without breaking my budget and it's excellent for trail riding and my needs, but if you want to be a dick about it and criticize me for getting it then go right ahead. I'm not rolling like some of these others and can afford to spend big money on something like that. You asked what people had and I told you what I had, it fits my needs just right.

something recreational, i have no desire to train or whatnot, just something to bike around with a few times a week for some cardio. I do have a mountain bike, not sure if it has quick release hubs though. Could you put road tires on any mountain bike?

here is my bike

sweetbike.jpg

My dad bought it for $50 up at Carlisle about 8 years ago. I put those apehangers on it about 2 years ago, and back in about September I had to replace the sissy bar and then the following month I had to replace the cranks because the pedal broke off and the stem because it started to crack. I hope it doesn't need any repairs fo a long time. *Knock on wood*
