Love - Hate Players

After reading all the articles about Manning & Brady.. it is obvious they are two type of players you either love them or you hate them no in between

I started wondering, who are some other NFL players that cause such a great division among football fans?

Ray Lewis?

Donavan McNabb?

Dieon Sanders?

Tony Promo?

who else?

Chad Johnson-people either think he's entertaining or annoying.

Jeremy Shockey-he's a 'warrior' vs 'he can't keep his mouth shut'

Brian Urlacher-some people insist he's overrated

Rex Grossman-I think Bears fans either love him or hate him depending on how game day goes :)

Michael Vick-again, overrated vs awesome

I don't love any non-Redskin. I do respect good players, though.

I only 'hate' players for things they do off the field, such as TO, Ray Lewis, Leonard Little, Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin, etc. ... but even then 'hate' is a pretty strong word (except in Deion's case. :D )

Peyton, heck, probably both of the Mannings.

What ya got against Peyton? Eli i can understand, but i can't see a problem with Peyton.

I can't stand Mike Alstott. The 2 point conversion (he didn't really make) in 2005, and the goal line TD run in the '99 Divisional. Hope you burn in hell.

You don't get all the Peyton commercials in Australia, do you?

Between that, and constantly throwing his teammates under the bus, it's actually real easy to hate Peyton Manning

I have seen one or two Manning ad's, so i guess if i had them all day i might get a little annoyed with him. When i hate a player it's usually because of something he did against the Redskins. That's why i didn't see a problem with Peyton.

That's pretty tough to say "constantly throwing his teammates under the bus". There have been occasions where he spoke poorly about certain groups/players on the team. But from what I've seen, it has usually been straight after the game when the blood is still pumping, and it's pretty much been warranted criticism. I remember him criticizing the O-line following the upset loss to Pittsburgh in '05, and although he probably regretted saying it, he had every to. He spent more time on his back the Paris Hilton that game (wow....i should start writing for Leno). With what he does and how he leads that team, i think at times he has the right to call players out, imo.

Most players have already been mentioned so how about head coaches?

I'm probably the only one but I never cared for Bill Cowher. I’m sure he’s a decent fellow—just never cared for the way he always mugged for the cameras with the jaw. Same goes for The Tuna and of course my all time favorite; Mister Brian Billick who wrote a book called “Developing an Offensive Game Plan”, which—believe it or not has a picture of Tony Banks on the cover. Reading a book by Brian Billick on designing an offense is like asking Ray Lewis what it's like to have a clean conscience. It should have been called “How to lose to the Colt’s at home in embarrassing fashion”.

yeah it's Mannings fault Mastercard & Sprint hired him, and they pay the networks to air the commercial as often as they do... at least they are humorus, unlike that awful Tom Brady visa commercial that ran non stop last year, or all of McNabbs commercials.

I mean Tom Brady never yelled at his teammates on the sideines in view of the cameras or call players out after a loss to the Jets

I'm not going to blame Manning for all the commercials he does. He's in demand and pretty funny in each of the commercials. Once he decided to endorse 35 products per weekend, though, he has thrust himself into the public spotlight and cannot complain about whatever negative feedback he receives as a result.

I think there is a pretty distinct difference in Tom Brady and Peyton Manning's career that may make his criticism of teamates a bit different than Manning.

I don't particularly hate Manning, but he isn't an innocent victim. If you're going to make yourself the league's most visible player, prepare to deal with the league's most prominent criticisms.

His most recent complaint, that everyone wants to blame him after a loss but congratulate the team after a win, was absurd. Every offseason he receives more credit than anyone in the league for his performance, and every year when he fails in the playoffs he receives an equal amount of criticism.

You're allowed to yell at your teammates on the sidelines in the heat of battle.

One thing Tom Brady doesn't do is call out his teammates EVERY time his team loses.

Just a month ago, it was the defenses fault that Indy lost at Houston.

Last year, it was the olines fault for giving up 5 sacks, & vanderjagts fault for missing that kick, even though the colts had second & 2 with 31 seconds to go, and Manning threw two straight passes into the end zone rather than trying to get closer than a 46 yard field goal.

The bottom line, it's never Peyton's fault, and it pisses me off.....
