The Redskins' Art Monk put together

an impressive career, worthy of enshrinement.

Exhibit A: Art Monk

I don't even like the Redskins. Don't care about them in the least, but Monk was a fantastic player. He played on winners, he played forever, and his stats were great before league rules and philosophies changed and all of a sudden they look merely terrific. Monk should have been put in the Hall years ago, because if he does finally get enshrined all these years later, it will smack of a begrudging move that entailed winks, nods and side deals promising votes for other lost causes. It's the same way the Hall voters did Harry Carson wrong. I didn't always dig Carson's petulance on the subject, but the more I thought about it, the more I found myself agreeing with where he was coming from: If I'm good enough to get in, let me in and stop skull-banging me.

What a great video and tribute to Art Monk. The most powerful thing is all of the respected players and coaches on the video saying "Future Hall of Famer Art Monk" or "Canton Bound." These guys know football: Bill Walsh, Ken Stabler, John Madden, Ronnie Lott, Jerry Rice, Dan Fouts, Roger Staubach, Ron Woodson and all of the rest on the video. Ron Woodson made the best point of all: He has been overlooked because he is quiet and not flashy, and really, those qualities should be a bonus for him. He was a quiet leader and he was the most important skill player for the entire stretch of great Redskins teams.

and then have an image of him as a background while the number and name are foreground.

I still remember the first time I saw Art Monk in action. I think it was on a college all star game and the announcer stated he was the Redskins top pick. I tought well he doesnt have great speed but at least he can catch. Guess he is not gonna be another Charlie Taylor! God, was I wrong. One thing the T.V. did not show was his heart and desire. He should be in the HOF.
