bschurm
Now I know that the top 10 Super Bowl coaches list has already been discussed on this board, but I wanted to get some feedback on the individual performance Top 10 list by ESPN. On the individual performance list they listed Joe Montana twice, yet neglected Doug Williams performance in SB XXII. Now I guess I could live with that (not really), but as I was watching the count approach #1, I began to get this uneasy feeling in my stomach. #10 was Terrell Davis and his accomplishments in the Broncos first SB win, but when they named Lynn Swann #1 and neglected Tim Smith with the SB rushing Record of over 200 yards in favor of Terrell (ooohhh my head hurts) Davis I almost puked right then and there!:puke: At least they did put Riggos performance at 5 or 6. I guess I just don't undertand the criteria for a great indiviual performance, is a SB record of over 200 yards in one game not a worthy enough performance to be included in the top ten? No_Pressure
Popularity contest, Terrell Davis was good in memorable seasons with thousands of yards and today is an analyst/host on the NFL network. Last year Timmy Smith, who had basically one good game as an NFL player, was arrested for dealing crack in Denver or something. I know Timmy is more deserving of the top 10 because of his performance, but it is a popularity contest and outside of the circle of Redskins fans Timmy Smith was never a household name. Also, people like to discredit 1987 because of the strike year and the replacement players, though they never discredit 1982 because it was all starters and we played what? 5 playoff games? red dot in a sea of blue
They do spend a decent amount of time talking about the Redskins SB victories earlier in the program and discuss Timmy Smith and his record breaking performance, they also give Gibbs a lot of credit and interview him a bunch.... Do I agree with every thing they chose in the top 10 list? No... Have I spent one second being upset about it since then? No.... I don't understand Doug Williams not getting in there though... kwitt
What Doug Williams did in that game was breathtaking. Maybe they should tune in on Monday to the NFL Network to watch the game in it's entirety and then conduct a revote.

CM916
I watched a "greatest moments in Monday Night Football" thing once thinking there would be at least one vintage Redskins segment. Well, there were two, a blowout loss and Theismann's broken leg. That was a "great" thing?! Remembering the rest of the stuff on that show, it must have been planned by a cowboy fan. scruffylookin
Doug Williams should have been there. As for Timmy Smith, that's a tough one only because I almost would rather say that it was a great performance by the Oline that allowed Smith those yards. I mean there were gaping holes all over the place for him to run through. That said, I agree that Terrell Davis being included over Timmy Smith or even Marcus Allen  is a joke. One other individual Redskin performance that I wish would get recognized is Wilbur Marshall's play in SB26. Of course it's not Top 10 overall, but perhaps if they made a list of top 10 defensive performances in a SB. Wilbur's day should be on it. If I'm not mistaken, he was second to Ryp in MVP voting for SB26. Wilbur was spectacular.
Taylor 36
You would think, being ESPN, they would have added DW to the top ten for no other reason than he is the only Black QB to win a SB. They usually tend to focus on that stuff over the records or the remarkable guts coming back from an injury in the first quarter to having the best quarter of football arguably EVER in football, never mind a SB.
