luckydevil
The gold standard thing is where he gets meAll his other views are fairly defensible and logical Gold standard though? from the link "It is not really my position to close the Fed down. It would require too much adjustment to do that overnight. I advocate competing currencies--to legalize another currency that we can work in. That means repealing legal tender laws and repealing all taxes on gold and silver. If people want to use another money, then they can, and if not they can use paper." Hayek had actually very similar views to Paul's

Baculus
He, along with many Libertarians (as well as Alan Greenspan, which is ironic) advocate returning to the gold standard to help stabalize the monetery system and to promote fiscal responsibility in the Federal government. Here is Ron Paul's website: http://www.house.gov/paul/ And a Wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Paul I'd advocate to read up on Paul, one of America's last great, principled politicians in Congress. He'd make a great President for this nation and would garner support from both sides of the political aisle.
Riggo-toni
The gold standard thing is where he gets meAll his other views are fairly defensible and logical Gold standard though? Agreed. The Gold standard is a bad idea in today's economy - even though I'm a Libertarian, this is one of the handful of issues where I think the party crosses the line into ideological inflexibility. Independent central banks have proven themselves to be the most effective guardians of inflation without sacrificing growth. Can any impartial informed observer seriously believe that the gold standard would've been a better guiding force over the economy than Alan Greenspan? I also recall some of our resident liberals here insisting that I could not possibly be a pro-life libertarian. guess this has finally proved him wrong..
