redskin81
My brother waited on his younger brother a couple of weeks ago. My brother knowing that I would want him to ask, asked him if Dock was going to stay in DC. His brother indicated that Dock really really really wants to stay in DC. Friend of the Devil
Gotta keep Dock...never forget that fumble recovery in the Eagles game last year at home...we owe him some dough...cough it up Danny Boy... Take some cash out of Larry Michaels check every week if that's what it takes.
roanoker
Count me in. We need to keep Dock.
smitty71
I thought Dock's resigning would be a no-brainer! We have zero depth on O-line and he had his best season yet. If he is not resigned then this front office will have not learned a damn thing during this herendous year and the bull horn shouting about how Gibb's will do everything he can to make this team better is bunk. JimmiJo
He will walk. Guaranteed. This franchise will never learn. There are two parties involved in this negotiation, not just the team. I think we should all consider that there is a very real chance they do not come to terms. The Redskins tend to backload contracts - with the big money coming later and the signing bonus spread out. As the contract ages they then ask the player to re-negotiate, as has been the case with players like Samuels et al. Being $1 mil. over the cap already for 2007, the team is probably pursuing the same type of deal with Dockery. However, there are teams who have cap room and can sign him and pay him his bonus and larger salary up front in the early years. Since the Redskins never have the cap room they tend to offer larger contracts than other teams in order to provide incentive to the player to sign (or so it would seem). Dockery's agent is obligated to get him the best deal out there. As much as he says he wishes to stay, it is money time now and he has to pursue the best deal there is for him (he would be foolish not to). In the end this very well may mean that he leaves the team.
bulldog
Come on folks. Let's admit the obvious. Resigning Dockery is NOW an important move because he finally came to camp in shape, having lost 20 pounds in the offseason, and did the things the coaches asked of him.......and as a result he excelled in 2006 IN HIS CONTRACT YEAR. I agree that keeping line continuity is a definite goal or at least should be. And the Redskins have thrown money around like it is going out of style on lesser players the past 2-3 years. My only concern with Dockery is that his rapid improvement did in fact come in a contract year and one wonders if he will continue to show the same dedication AFTER he receives a new deal. Morneblade
I'm really worried about this. You know if we wanted to keep him, we'd have given him the money he wanted already. Something tells me this another Antonio Pierce waiting to happen.DON'T ****ING SCREW THIS UP, DAN!!! RE-SIGN DOCKERY!!! Tell me about it. You'd think these guys would learn after making mistake after mistake and not keeping guys. But then it's the Redskins, and we let "core" guys go year after year after year. Can we beat the sh*t out of the FO if they continue this path? re-sign Dock :applause:
twenty-eight
How much money doyou think he wants?
Morneblade
Maybe the office is trying to do what so many of you have ripped them for in the past: signing mediocre talent to huge contracts.Maybe they know Dock is OK, but at the same time not "all that" and are trying to get a reasonable contract done. But for every "official resign Dockery thread" comes more ammo for his agent to ask for a ridiculous amount citing "look how much the fans want him...you need to dig deeper, guys if you want my man" I think you're missing the boat on what the fans are ripping the front office for. We have not been ripping the FO for signing marginal tallent to huge contracts. We have been ripping the FO for signing marginal FA's to huge contracts, but not getting our own FA's signed that performed well for us.

ozskin
Dockery is a must sign. If we are to be a 'team' and not a group of individuals....it's starts by signing players like Dockery.
jr41911
Keep the Dirtbags together. Sign Dock. He seems like a good player and I'm sure they can convince him to stay.
kreitmaster
This is a must. Dockery was very good this season and has improved in all of his seasons in the NFL. He needs to be a staple in this offense line for years to come.
