bulldog
it is indeed ironic that the club shudders at the thought of giving its own player a $8-$10 million bonus but has absolutely NO problem in shelling out major dollars for mediocrities such as Lloyd and Archuleta  since Gibbs has always stressed loyalty and continuity in his coaching career you would have to believe that this particular decision has other footprints on it. I think Gibbs has a say of course, but I doubt he is the final word.

I am sure Saunders will provide a little as well. If Gibbs tells Vinny and Danny that the team needs to keep Dock the team will find a way to sign him. Vinny and Danny are not going to go against Gibbs on the Dock issue. It would not make sense.

I bet he will sell jersies... since Gibbs has always stressed loyalty and continuity in his coaching career you would have to believe that this particular decision has other footprints on it. I think Gibbs has a say of course, but I doubt he is the final word. That is what makes so little sense to me about the last couple of years. Why would he let quality, bluechip defenders like Pierce, Clark, Smoot, and other walk in favor of NEW players from other systems. This stinks of Danny all over. Hopefully resigning Dock will be a big first step in the right direction. I always thought that Gibbs would be able to resist Danny's money, but maybe even he has been bitten by the PLAY TO WIN NOW philosophy seeing as he does not have many years left as the head coach. As much as I admire the man as a coach, I just do not think he has the foresight to build a long term contender in todays NFL. This being said, I still see the Dock situation as a no-brainer:doh:. Of course, I have been proven wrong by this franshise many times before...

Bangee7
I'm still on the fence with this guy. He makes a ton of mistakes. I cannot see paying him top money...if he stays reasonable, then so be it.
Tarpon75
A really great course of action would be to Re-sign Doc and Wade on the O-line and then move on to Cooley and Taylor.May not happen but it would be nice.
BlindSideBlitz
What I will never get with this team is that if it were 12:01am the night FA starts and Dock was a FA from another team that they wanted, the skins would have a muti-year deal done. It seems like they never have a problem putting a FA on Redskin1 and getting a deal done but if he has been here for years and played well then all you hear is "the two sides are far apart". I am so sick of this crap.
MumboSauce
Keep Dockery! that line is top five when they play like they did down the stretch. Keep them in tact.
wildbill1952
From previous players it asppears there's an attitude that current players should not expect a raise. I don't know if it's the thought that the other team's FA is more valuable or if it's just a dumb management thing. DS, make the right decision for once. Keep the home-grown talent and sign Dockery now!

It would be damn nice, but can we do it.I mean Arch,Lloyd,Randel El and Carters contracts might kill those chances. If we don't find away to keep these players we are going to be sorry. Many teams would want Randy,Cooley and Taylor. It would sicken me to see them in another uniform. andyburd
You watch, Dick Snyder will not resign him, and he will go back to Texas and sign with the Cowgirls. My prediction
Fredburgskin
I'm still on the fence with this guy.He makes a ton of mistakes. I cannot see paying him top money...if he stays reasonable, then so be it. If I can recall in years past he was one of the most penalized o-linemen in the NFL. However, this year it seems as if he is commiting far fewer gaffs. I think if would be a shame if this guy got away from us just as he is coming into his prime. Brandon Lloyd Christmas
why is our front office so retarded? they should have had dock signed weeks ago. you wonder if theyll ever learn or just continue on like this. and whats even worse is that we get no clarification or justification for any of the dumbass moves they make. pjfootballer
I usually don't "sign" these "official threads" but I'll play this time. Get DOCK signed!
pgitta
Maybe the office is trying to do what so many of you have ripped them for in the past: signing mediocre talent to huge contracts. Maybe they know Dock is OK, but at the same time not "all that" and are trying to get a reasonable contract done. But for every "official resign Dockery thread" comes more ammo for his agent to ask for a ridiculous amount citing "look how much the fans want him...you need to dig deeper, guys if you want my man"

I think they wait because they want to be sure they're still playing at a high level.

Holdman is a much different case...Dockery is a young guy and should have been signed a year ago...Yes, some players, especially VETS, let them go into that last year, but think what we could have avoided if we had signed Smoot, Baily, Pierce and not allowed them to get to that final year. They would have taken less money than what we would have needed to sign them for in the final year.:logo:

Since day one the Redskins have been waiting for this kid to reach the potential that they thought that a 6'6 345lb LG should reach. Well, obviously they weren't satisfied last year and maybe they are not now. Maybe they would like to weigh their options as far as upgrading his position with a player closer to Randy Thomas' level of productivity. Can you just imagine a player with Thomas' abilities playing next to Samuels as appose to a ok player? Skins110
Dockery is much better than an ok player. Did you see the holes he and Samuels were making in the running game? He has matured a lot since being drafted by Spurrier a few years ago. Dock is the youngest guy left on an aging (but still effective) Oline. We have to resign him. There's a huge difference between giving a vet min, 30 year old FA LB a 7 year deal and locking up good, young, drafted talent that's coming around nicely a year before their rookie contracts are up. You know, like NE and Philly do all the time. Right when the draft picks start to turn the corner, they lock them up with reasonable deals a year or two before they ever hit FA. After the season Dockery had last year, that should've been done last offseason. I really hate it but I'm convinced Dockery is gone. If they wanted to keep him, they'd have paid him by now. The only time the Skins try to lowball people like they are now is when they really don't want or think they need the guy. It's a shame, he was really coming around and becoming an excellent player. Goodbye big Dock, I'll miss ya. This years Antonio Pierce, ladies and gentleman.
