jb4348
Hello all I just wanted to get some different opinions on this matter. I have worked with this girl for over a year now. We just started hanging out last week. We have been friends basically since I started working with her. She was in a serious relationship that ended this past summer and I was in a relationship that I recently got out of which was my choice. I was just wandering if its a bad idea to date someone you work with or is it no big deal. Now no one here at work knows that we are and we intend to keep it that way. Any thoughts??????? Coooleeey
Just make sure she has her head on right. She can make your life a living hell otherwise. Also watch out for working in the same dept as her, if you are her boss, or work with her regulary. If she is in your department you could get passed up on a promotion. If you work with her daily then it might get weird when you have to interact and it doesn't work out.

Heidenreich
As someone who's been through it, it's not a good idea. If it doesn't work out, things will get ugly in a hurry. But, throw all negative advice out the window if she's hot. So I guess this thread needs pictures.....
DCsportsfan53
I think it depends on your company and what the working relationship is like. If one of you is the other's superior or has influence over the others pay, job title, ect, then I would say it's probably ill advised and probably grounds for dismissal for most companies. If you're equals at work or work in different departments or something like that, it shouldn't be a problem.

RyansRangers
I would advise against it because if you break up it will be hell so I suggest get her fired and then date her all you want

KingGibbs
I "dated" a co-worker for 2 1/2 years and wow was it fun. Conference room, conference room table, lunch room, hotels, motels and Holiday Inn. I caught her in her prime.
SkinsOrlando
Bad idea to date anyone you work with, if she's down for some no committment sex, go for it. I tried the dating thing with co-workers it was miserable, then I just started pimpin ho's like domino's and all was good. Then I met my wife and life ended......er I mean started. We act the same but we have to be very discreet because my boss is a complete b ouch. Thanks for the advise though
tizzod
One of the biggest problems I see with dating a co-worker is that you can never get away from them. You see them all day at work, then at night she wants to hang out....you never have time to yourself. But...maybe you like that. Go for it if it feels right! In my experience it made it easier to get up and go to work because it was a hot and heavy relationship and it carried over after work. I have no regrets when I look back on it. It was the best 2 1/2 years in regards to a relationship, but due to some dire circumstances it had to end.

CGSKINS
Dog! If just a sex thing, then yea go for it. If its for a relationship? Hell no. You cant have a girl that works with you and around you all day long. Just put the wood to her and let her know that you aint trying to get serious. stevenaa
I dated a coworker, then I became her boss, then her husband. Going on 13 great years. Really just depends on the maturity level of the individuals involved.

Henry
Whatever happened to the 50 yard rule? I thought that applied to the office as well.
jrockster21
If you can completely switch it off at work, and that's cool with both of you, then I say go for it. Some people might get offended if they got the "regular treatment" from their significant other at work. I don't know if I could handle it, personally...it might tick me off too much. Also, as others have said, if it gets ugly between the two of you, you never know what the other person is capable of...you don't want that kind of ish around to potentially tarnish whatever reputation you have at work.
