darrell1106
Mangini will have open QB competition again in camp ESPN.com news service Even though he was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year and led the New York Jets to a surprising playoff berth, Chap Pennington will have to start at square one in 2007 for coach Eric Mangini. "I think Chad did a great job," Mangini said. "Like with every position, we're going to evaluate it as we go. But I really believe in Chad. I just think as a core philosophy, that's what we believe in. In terms of competition, this is no statement one way or the other, but I believe in competition." ... Pennington's primary competition likely will be 2006 second-round pick Kellen Clemens, who saw limited action this season. Rest of story here Is Patrick that bad that he can't get recoginition for being competitive? lovellj
Ummmmm...the whole point of the competition is because they drafted Clemens last year, so the competition is between him and Pennington. Pennington's played well enough this year for there not to be a competition, but the Jets drafted Clemens in the 2nd round last year, so they are looking to eventually go with Clemens, or at least give him a shot since they invested a high pick in him. Ramsey's not really in the race here.
OWUeagleMD
Why the disbelief of Kellen Clemens being top competition? He was a second round pick and was believed by many (Ron Jaworski for certain) to be the best QB in the draft last year.

ntotoro
Is Patrick that bad that he can't get recoginition for being competitive? He was demoted to #3 status during the season. That should tell you something right there. He simply is not full-time NFL starter material, regardless the system, Coach or whatever else. maxpower_I
Ramsey was the top backup to The Chad. Didn't you see his line from the playoff game? 1-1 for -1 yards. Damn, can't believe we traded that guy away!

Ellis
Ditto. Can Ramsey EVER have a career post-redskins? I can't see it happening.
SolidSnake84
Unfortunatley, I think Patrick is done. I can't think of any team that believes he is starting material. I don't expect him to stay in the league much longer.
DWinzit
Start? I just hope he makes their roster next season.
jimster
I believe he's a free agent this year, so there's no guarenttee he'll be back with the Jets

CooleyKnight
Looks like Ramsey is poised to be a career backup from here on it. Too bad, I always hoped he would turn out to be a good QB, even after leaving Washington.

KDawg
Apparently, the Jets have a new quarterback, Chap Pennington! Even though he was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year and led the New York Jets to a surprising playoff berth, Chap Pennington will have to start at square one in 2007 for coach Eric Mangini. Operations
Well, you know... Brunell is done physically. And Collins is old and sucktacular. Skins do need a decent back-up to JC... Maybe, just maybe....
praise_gibbs
If Patrick Ramsey played more in the Jets/NE playoff game last week.. the Jets would still be playing this week. Ramsey forgot more things than Pennington will ever know in regards to the QB position. I am not a fan of displaying a bust of a player in Canton before they atleast retire for a couple of seasons before coming back into the NFL.. but, we should seriouslly make an exception on this one. Basically, what I am saying is that Patrick Ramsey is your answer to all problems. --an AJSkins excerpt...
