Wanna see a decade of crap?

How did we end up with nothing higher than a #4 in 1996? I can't remember for the life of me....

SKINS TRADE WITH DALLAS TO TAKE TACKLE WITH 30TH PICK

Determined not to enter the 1996 season with a still-injured Jim Lachey and out-of-position Joe Patton manning the crucial left tackle spot, the Washington Redskins finally got off their knees and got on the telephone during Saturday's first round of the NFL draft.

When general manager Charley Casserly hung up, he had negotiated a trade with the team the Redskins love to hate - the Super Bowl champion Dallas Cowboys. Casserly sent his archrival the Redskins' second- and third-round draft picks - 37th and 67th overall - for Dallas' pick in the first round. Washington used it to snare the last top-quality offensive tackle they had rated in the Class of '96, Penn State's 6-5, 310-pound Andre Johnson.

Classic Casserly...

Let's see.

In 2000 we made 8 picks. One of them is still with the team.

In 2002 we made 10 picks. Two of them are still with the team.

From those 18 picks, we've netted one starter.

Throw in the infamous coaching carrousel and you truly have an entire decade of unadulterated CRAP!

Can we pick 'em or what? Gotta love Snyderism.

Just goes to show a ton of picks wont help if you pick the wrong guys.

Look at Gibbs' first draft, 2004. We got just as many players from those four picks. If Montgomery and/or Golsten work out and stick with the team (clearly not a given) then I'd say Gibbs is actually drafting ok. Now if we could just get him to stop trading away picks ...
