Potential New GM ??

If we are headed that route, why not Pioli....it goes without saying that this guy has made NE into a NFL force over the years....Why dont we head that route?

• The next in line? This offseason it should be New England vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli's turn, if some smart ownership group is willing to cede full control to Belichick's 41-year-old right-hand man. Pioli loves working for Belichick and has tremendous regard for the Kraft family, which has been very good to him. He could be there as long as Belichick is and he'd be happy, because he's not a wanderlust guy. If he were, he would have taken Seattle owner Paul Allen's $3-million-a-year offer to oversee the Seahawks two years ago. But if a flagship franchise like the Giants, who are losing longtime GM Ernie Accorsi to retirement this month, were to offer Pioli full control over football operations, it could be a perfect match.

Pioli was bitten by the football bug at Giants training camp when Belichick was the boy wonder defensive coordinator two decades ago. Pioli used to go to Giants training camp to study defensive schemes as a Central Connecticut State coaching wannabe. Belichick befriended him and later gave him his first job in the NFL as a scouting gopher with the Browns. Whether the Giants hire Pioli, the pre-eminent personnel man in the game who doesn't have full football control over a team, is one thing, but they should at least make the call to see if he's interested.

NO THANK YOU. Pioli is a major part of, and adherent to, the philosophy in New England that I find so abhorant and disgusting. He has bought into the "New Era" NFL mentality and that's something I cannot and will not deal with. Beyond that, I don't see him fitting into the Dan Snyder/Vinnie Cerrato power system. Vinnie would have to go, and Snyder would have to give up a LOT of his influence and public involvement with the team.

That having been said, if Dan Snyder WERE to pry him away from the Patriots, it would be the end of my time as a Redskins fan. Permanently.

The system works for them. People come to DC to get paid. It is a high profile area.

If he was here it would not work. We would not be able to re sign players.

We need a GM in the middle. Gets free agents but does not throw away picks.

Dan Snyder hire a GM? Makes too much sense. Since 1999 when hired Casserly the team had went into a downward spiral.

He still does not undrstand you can bring all the coaches and consultants in the world, if you give those coaches too much say and or you let Vinny Cerrato have to much say those coaches will look lost.

It is not all about winning with him. It is about running a team in the way he sees fit.

It isn't loathing... it's outright, pure, unadulterated HATRED of the highest order. It comes from the fact that they're the poster children for a"New Era" NFL system that I believe is contrary to everything good and right in sports and the world in general.... it's called SOCIALISM and borders on COMMUNISM if you look at it deeply enough.

The Patriots are exactly what the NFL wants.... a team dedicated to being the"least bad" team in the league. A team that has no interest in dominating opponents, but instead is content to allow their opponents to beat themselves.

They're the epitome of everything I believe is wrong in sports and the world in general, and in the NFL specifically; and for selling their souls they've been granted a trio of Lombardi Trophies.

Does that explain it sufficiently?

They are going for their 4th SuperBowl title in 6 years. I am all about that mentality. Give me a break.

So they take advantage of the post-salary cap era better than any other team...what's wrong with that? The dynasties of the 60's 70's and 80's are long gone. These guys know how to win and to sustain winning with the rules as they stand right now. I envy them.

I agree. But it is common sense. If we know the NFL is about being the least bad not trying to winn the off season through being aggresive. CHANGE.

You change with the times.

The Snyder/Jerry Jones way is not working. There teams go through losing steaks and a lot of hype that hurts them.

Huh, I don't follow your logic at all here. I lived in MA for 6 years and boy did I get sick of the talk radio and yahoo fans but I would love to book the month of January for some football instead of talking about what changes we are going to make year after year after year.

Yes you change with the times. In the 80s and early 90s it was all about having more talent.

Now it is all about having more depth than teams in your conference.

The NFC east was won by the Eagles because they had less injurys than the Giants. Even with Mcnabb being hurt.

You need to have a full squad these days.

I say bring in Pioli and get him to work with Gibbs, if not then bring in another coach...I know, that is blasphemy on this site but I am sick of the losing. Get Vinny and whoever else is in there and half of the 18 or so coaches and get back to smart FO moves. This trend has to change.

Gibbs can work with anybody. I never heard of Gibbs not getting along with someone who is helping a team win.

Remember the first time Gibbs has worked without a GM is with Snyder.

The anti-Dan Snyder type is what the Skins need. We can't afford to have a "yes" man like Vinny Cerato.

Except that he mostly says "yes" to Joe Gibbs.

Who made Joe Gibbs the final say man?

You guessed. Dan Snyder. So he can stay involved in football decesions.

You think Snyder does not handle the contracts of the players? You think he enjoys this?

Snyder knows Gibbs does not have the expirence or insight to negoiate contracts, make deals like Cerrato and scout their first rounds picks since he is coaching.

So Gibbs has final say while Snyder and Cerrato do all the leg work. So if they are going all the leg work and give Gibbs the final say. Who is the GM?

No one.

If Snyder hired a real GM. Snyder would have nothing to do . The real GM would be making the deals. Talking to teams about trades. Talking to agents.
